Greetings!

The person who coined the statement March comes "in like a lion and out like a lamb" must have not taken the Teton Valley / Jackson Hole area into account.  At the time of our last newsletter, daytime high temperatures where climbing into the 50's and 60's, and the snow in the valley was starting to disappear.  A massive winter storm came in April and dropped over 70 inches of snow in a couple of days.  Enough that Grand Targhee Ski Resort extended their operating season for one extra week, the first time in resort history.  Our snow pack climbed over 10-15% in a couple of days, and we are now sitting at over 400 inches of snow recorded for the year -- plus we have more precipitation to come.  As for now, the winter weather storm warnings have been lifted, and it is beginning to look like spring again.  Our rivers are going to be full of water again this year, and you can monitor our reservoir levels via the Bureau of Land Reclamation website.  It is a promising picture!  Don't forget, we will keep you posted with any updates in fishing conditions via our fishing reports webpage as well as the WorldCast Anglers fly fishing blog.
The Henry's Fork river has been outstanding as of late!!!  Nymphing, streamer fishing, dry fly fishing, you name it; it's all been happening on the Henry's.  Baetis and Caddis have started to emerge in large numbers, fish are eating dry flies, and the weather has been beautiful.  This is one of the prime windows to fish this river, so don't miss out on some stellar early dry fly fishing days for those famous Henry's Fork rainbows and browns.  Don't forget about our Early Season Trips - $50.00 off all trips until May 15th and our "Brown Bag Special" where you bring your own lunch, save $30.00 and experience some great guided fishing at a very low price.  As always, stop by any of our locations, give us a call (800.654.0676) or send us an email if you have any questions about our trip offerings, fly fishing equipment or general fly fishing needs.  Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Don't Miss the Henry's this Spring!!

As one of the most fabled watersheds in the Rocky Mountain West, the Henry's Fork is most commonly affiliated with the famous Railroad Ranch or Harriman State park.  In the spring, the river takes on new character.  The lower water below Ashton, ID has gained allot of publicity in the past couple of years as an early season fishery loaded with nymphing, streamer-stripping and dry fly fishing possibilities.  Plus, it contains a growing brown trout population, and who doesn't like the opportunity to catch big brown trout?  If you like freestone river characteristics, Warm River to Ashton is for you.  If you like technical tailwaters, the river below Ashton dam is one of the most overlooked tailwaters in the west.  Not many rivers offer two different types of water environments in one centralized area.
Baetis and Mother's Day Caddis have started to emerge on the Henry's Fork around Ashton, and the fishing has been spectacular these past couple of weeks.  It only gets better!  After the baetis and caddis, Salmonflies will follow.  That's correct, Salmonflies in May!!! Then the PMD's, Flav's, Brown and Grey Drakes, the list goes on and on.  Paired with our $50.00 discount on all trips and half off all lodging at WorldCast Anglers Island Park until May 15th, there is no excuse not to check out the Henry's Fork this spring and experience some awesome early season fishing opportunities. If you ever wonder what fishing guides do during the winter and spring, they can commonly be found fishing the Henry's Fork.  As you know, you are more than welcome to book your own Henry's Fork guided trip with the guide and water of your choice (pending office approval) via our WorldCast Anglers Guide Bios webpage or call our office (800.654.0676) to get all set up for an awesome spring Henry's Fork experience.  Don't miss the Henry's this spring
; it is going to be awesome!
Free Orvis Reel with Hydros Purchase!!!
Awarded one of the coveted Field and Stream "Best of the Best Awards" for 2010, the new Hydros rod is the perfect blend of performance and value.  With the latest Orvis graphite technology, these lightweight rods at lightweight prices can open the doors to some of the best fishing you will experience.  Modeled after the unbelievable Helios rod, the new Hydros carries some of the Helios characteristics at a trimmed down price.  Complete with cordura nylon tube and unprecedented Orvis Warranty, the Hydros is soon to become one of our go-to rods for the South Fork, Snake and Henry's Fork Rivers.  Quick, light, durable, responsive, good value, what's not to like here?  And for the month of May, WCA will give you a free Orvis Battenkill Large Arbor or Mid-Arbor Reel with your purchase of a new Hydros or Helios rod!!!

Take a look at what WorldCast Anglers' Vice President, Jim Hickey, has to say about the Hydros rod from his recent travels to the saltwater flats of Mexico.  "This March, I had fished the new Orvis Hydros fly rod in Mexico for bonefish, tarpon, jacks, and permit, and I loved it!  Orvis claims it is the second lightest rod on the market (next to the Helios), and that tells only a part of the story.  The Hydros's feel helps it balance perfectly with a saltwater or large arbor reel.  In the flats, it handled the wind exceptionally well with its fast action and smooth tracking, punching flies quickly and accurately to the targets.  I was also able to handle fish like 20 pound jacks and tarpon without sacrificing much leverage.  The fantastic performance of this saltwater version of the Hydros has inspired me to equip myself with the Hydros rods for my trout fishing this summer.  I have no doubt that the Hydros 9ft 6wt tipflex will be my favorite rod for fishing both big dry flies as well as streamers on all our local area rivers this season.  Come and try one and see for yourself!" Give our office a call (1-800-654-0676) if you are interested in this unbelievable deal on a new Hydros or Helios rod with free Orvis Battenkill Large Arbor or Mid-Arbor reel!  This offer expires on May 31st, 2010.

New WCA Trips Update!!!

In case you missed our previous newsletter, WorldCast Anglers is offering some exciting new products this coming 2010 fishing season.  Our Guest Chef Overnight Adventures are not to be missed this summer.  This trip takes the best in Jackson Hole dining and blends it into one unique and special overnight fly fishing trip through the South Fork Canyon.  One of Jackson Hole's top chefs will meet you at camp and prepare a wonderful selection of appetizers and hors d' oeuvres as well as an impeccable three course meal, complete with beer and wine.  The only thing you have to bring is an empty stomach.  The first guest chef overnight will be offered on August 6th and 7th and there are only two open boats left.  Guest chefs are also available for all South Fork Hilton overnight trips at full capacity (4 boats) or by special request.  The cost of this trip is $1950 (per boat/2 anglers) and includes two full days of fishing, all meals, sodas and waters, complimentary beer and wine at camp, guide, use of Orvis rods and reels and transportation to and from the river.  The only thing you are responsible for is your fishing license for two days, a small selection of flies (chosen by the guide) and gratuities.

WorldCast Anglers is also excited to offer for the 2010 fishing season Lakes and Reservoirs trips.  Often overlooked fisheries and in the shadow of other famous watersheds, our local area lakes and reservoirs offer exceptional quality fishing opportunities without the crowds.  Imagine sight casting to cruising brown trout on Lewis Lake or experiencing the power of a monster Henry's Lake Hybrid all while the local area rivers are brown and muddy with the spring run-off season.  WorldCast Anglers has assembled an elite lake fishing team that is ready to show you what you are missing every time you pass by one of these misunderstood fisheries.  Don't forget about our fall cast and blast trips, where we pair a morning of pheasant and partridge hunting with an afternoon half day float trip, the ultimate trip for the fall sportsman or wing-shooter.  These trips are offered during the week directly here in the Teton Valley area with our hunting partner, Blixt & Co.  For more information about these new trip offerings from WorldCast Anglers, please contact any of our offices (800.654.0676), or feel free to email us with any questions you may have.  We look forward to creating new fishing experiences with you this summer fishing season.

WCA Hosted Trip to Playa Blanca!!!

Located 10 miles south of Casa Blanca on the Isla Punta Pajaros is the saltwater anglers paradise of Playa Blanca.  Often overshadowed by its sister lodge, Casa Blanca, Playa Blanca offers spectacular fishing for bonefish, permit and tarpon in an adventure resort setting -- a perfect location to pursue the coveted Saltwater Grand Slam (Bonefish, Tarpon and Permit).  WorldCast Anglers' President Mike Dawes and Vice President Jim Hickey will host this remarkable trip on November 13th-20th, and they have reserved the entire lodge for WorldCast Anglers guests.

Accommodations consist of private seaside cabanas with the beachfront restaurant and bar just a short walk away.  In essence, Playa Blanca is perfect for world-class anglers looking for a small intimate environment (maximum occupancy is only 7 rooms), full of great fishing, comfortable accommodations and wonderful food and beverages.  Not to mention, the resort is completely surrounded by the massive 1.3 million acre Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, which has been designated as a World Heritage Site by the United Nations.

Morning starts with a gourmet breakfast as your guide prepares your Dolphin Skiff for the day's adventure.  For the rest of the day, you will cruise the inside of one of the world's largest coral reef environments looking for schools of tailing bonefish and permit.  Lunch will be served shore-side or back at the seaside restaurant. A perfect afternoon of jumping tarpon or rocketing permit and then a short boat ride back to the resort for cold beverages, another amazing meal, and a sunset on the ocean.  Additionally, Mike and Jim will host one evening of saltwater fly-tying and an evening of casting lessons. Only six spaces remain!  Please email WorldCast Anglers or call (800.654.0676) for more information and availability.
