Winter Fly-Fishing

Just because the snow is falling, it doesn't mean that you have to put the fly-fishing gear away for the year. To be honest, we see some great fishing days during the winter months, and if the conditions  are right, fish will even eat dry flies. If the temperature jumps above 25 degrees, beat the cabin fever, bundle up and enjoy some great fishing and solitude on many of our local rivers.
Be on the look out for slow, slack water areas, preferably those sections that are protected from the wind. Avoid the traditional "summer water" of fast, shallow riffles and banks, and search out those areas that have a much slower water speed and more depth. Keep in mind that sections of certain rivers are closed during the winter months, so make sure to double check state regulations.
