"Poaching"

Poaching is a move in doubles when a player at the net moves across the court to cut off the ball coming from your opponents side. This is very effective when it’s done properly. Timing and ball placement are the key factors in order to win the point. The time to move is in between when the ball bounces and your opponent starts their swing. The move must be on the diagonal. Stepping up and across the court will help to cut the ball off sooner and not give your opponents much reaction time. The 2^nd key factor is the ball must be a deep shot coming close to the baseline. The deeper the ball is hit the easier it is to poach it. A shorter ball is hard to poach on unless you opponent is struggling to get to it. By moving at the right time and on the right ball will help improve your net play and help you win more points.
