Personal Greetings
by Patric Spohn  Well, we have met at one point or another, that's why I have your email address on file. Maybe from TokyoScuba™, Japan Underwater Explorers, Metropolis Magazine, Weathernews Inc., or partied at one of the many networking events in Tokyo.
Now I set up AbseilingMe™, which is offering rappelling adventures and tons of other awesome outdoor activities at Minakami supported by Canyons Ltd. View the video to get a better idea what abseiling is all about.
AbseilingMe™ adds spice to the existing outdoor operation at Canyons Ltd. with a safe introduction to rappelling cliffs on safety lines starting at heights of 5 meters. Enjoy freedom, nature, and adrenalin of up to 80 meters, including but not limited to spectacular sceneries of waterfalls and drop-offs at Minakami. Packages are offered in combination with canyoning and rafting starting May 1, 2010. Caving, snowshoeing, skiing, snowboarding, backcountry tours, mountain biking, bungy jumping, canoeing, and kayaking are also offered.
Alpine Lodge is the base of all adventures and provides a full-fledged family-like hospitality between activities, while Alpine Café will please your tummy. What better way of recharging your batteries from a demanding week at work, a 2-hour train ride from busy Tokyo and Osaka?

Snow Splash
by Outdoor Japan If you are up for anything but dating Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie (depending on your preferences) this weekend, then you should jump on the train for 3.5h and exit at Minakami station in Gunma on Saturday noon, heading for the infamous mixed Takaragawa onsen, just in time to check-in at the Alpine Lodge to party with a different crowd of international people from Snow Splash till the morning hours, before heading the slop for some beginner snowboard lessons at present 120cm of snow and climbing. Buddy Sought
by Ed & Patric Talking of climbing, I'm looking for up to 2 more outdoor enthusiasts who'd like to discover rappelling, otherwise known as abseil on cliffs starting at shallow 15m. The 2 or 3-day intensive-but-fun-6h-per-day course (no fucking around) will take place on February 6 + 7 + 8 (optional) for at 18,000 Yen per day/person. I provide the accommodation, so all you need to bring along are a few extra thousand for drinks/meals. Pro-climbing instructor Ed at Canyons will run the course again on the "extended" weekend of February 11 + 12 + 13. Please let me know one week prior to each trip departure if you'd like to join the fun. This is a private trip/course and not part of AbseilingMe™.
ロッククライミングについて言うと15メートルの薄い壁を二重のザイルで降りる方法とは違う方法で降りるアブセイリングに熱中している人を2人探しています。2,3日集中して、でも楽しく1日6時間コースを1人18,000円で2月6,7,8日に開催します。宿泊の部屋を用意し ますので飲み物、食べ物代を持ってきてください。キャニオンズのプロインストラクターエドが2月の11,12,13日にもう一度コースを開催する予定です。それぞれ、1週間前までに予約をしてください。このコースはアブセイリングミーではなく個人的なコースです。
