680 Trail Project -
Public Meeting & Hike
Jan 27th & Jan 30th | The '680 Trail', named for the elevation contour on the topo map, is the trail that will bypass the Hetfield property and connect Loma Alta Open Space with Terra Lina Open Space. This will be a shared use trail. There will be two public meetings with an opportunity to hike the proposed alignment of the trail. For details:

Trails Policy Public Meeting - Monday, Feb 1st 1:00 pm | There will be a joint meeting of the Marin County Parks and Open Space Commission and the Marin County Board of Supervisors on Monday, February 1, at 1 pm, in the Board of Supervisors Chambers, Room 330, Marin County Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael.
This meeting continues the public discussion of Open Space District trail policy that began at a Board of Supervisors workshop on November 3, 2009. At the workshop, the Board established a subcommittee to explore ways of reducing trail user conflict.
After a presentation by staff, there will be an opportunity for the Board, the Commission and the general public to offer their comments on this topic. After the comment period, the Board will give direction to staff regarding next steps. No new policies will be adopted at this meeting.
Additional information about the meeting will be posted on the Open Space District’s website, www.marinopenspace.org, prior to February 1.

GGNRA Marin Equestrian Plan - Wed Feb 3rd 5-7 pm
| The National Park Service (NPS) is seeking public input on preliminary
alternatives and concepts for the Marin Equestrian Plan Environmental
Assessment (EA). When completed, this plan will guide the future use of
three Marin stables located on Golden Gate National Recreation Area
(GGNRA) land. The Plan will confirm stable sites, address necessary
site and facility improvements, Best Management Practices,
sustainability, and actions to protect and improve affected natural and
cultural resources.

| MCOSD Vegetation Management Plan Meetings Jan 26th & Feb 3rd 6:00p | MCOSD is undertaking this important effort to develop the tools
and strategies needed to address increasing fire fuel loads, and the
march of exotics onto open space, as well as the tools and strategies
needed to improve efforts to preserve and enhance native species and to
develop habitats.
There number one goal is
- Manage MCOSD Lands for biodiversity, connectivity and resiliency.
