Designed to help the growth-oriented entrepreneurs successfully engage private investors, angels and VCs, "Becoming an Investor-ready Entrepreneur" will be offered Tuesday, Jan. 17 from 8am-5pm in Hickory. The interactive workshop features experienced investors, fund managers and serial entrepreneurs who have successfully raised private equity and understand the “ins and outs” of the capital food chain. Tax Assistance Volunteers Needed at Library
|
|
The Ashe County Public Library is seeking volunteers to assist in this year’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. Free training is provided for all positions. Beginning January 23rd, income tax preparers are needed for Saturdays, Mondays, and Tuesdays during the day. Computerized tax preparation guides are needed for afternoon and evening hours Monday through Thursday. Appointment setters are needed during regular library hours Monday through Saturday. Polar Bear Pub Crawl

This Saturday, January 14 from 7-10pm, take part in West Jefferson's first pub crawl. Crawl tickets include a souvenir koozie, $2 pint drafts, $3 house wines, signature event cocktails, wings, and half-price select appetizers. Ticket holders will also be eligible for discounts at local shops, hotel rates and taxi service with Bubba's Taxi. Tickets ($10/person) and crawl schedule are and available at Frasers Pub, Brick Stone and Black Jack's.

MLK Day Community Celebration

The Ashe County Arts Council is sponsoring a community celebration in honor of Martin Luther King Day on Monday, January 16 at 7pm at the Ashe Arts Center in West Jefferson. The celebration will feature essays, speeches, tributes highlighting the message of Dr.King. This year the focus will be on women in the civil rights movement with a reading from
