米豪の同盟強化
オーストラリアを訪問中のオバマ大統領は11月16日、ギラード豪首相との会談後の共同記者会見で両国の同盟強化策を発表しました。来年以降、まず250人の米海兵隊員をダーウィンとオーストラリア北部に交代で駐留させ共同演習や訓練を行い、最終的には駐留隊員を2500人規模にするとのことです。17日には大統領はオーストラリア議会とダーウィン豪空軍基地で演説し、米国がアジア太平洋地域での取り組みを強化していくことを表明しました。
