銃規制に関する包括策
オバマ大統領は１月16日の声明で、銃器販売の際の身元調査の厳格化や、殺傷能力の高い銃の禁止などの銃犯罪防止のための包括策を発表し、法案を早急に成立するよう議会に呼びかけました。また、オバマ大統領は大統領覚書に署名し、銃による暴力の原因とそれを阻止するための研究や、犯罪捜査で押収された銃器の出所を確かめることを連邦政府に義務付けることなどを含む23の対策を出しました。
