With the peak of winter past, the beginning of Spring will start in most regions of Japan. Cherry blossoms starts to bloom from the south in march making their way up north.

Welcome to the March edition of Japan Agent Update. 

 

Cherry blossoms are already blooming across many parts of Japan, and in Tokyo they are expected to start blooming on 21st March, reaching full bloom on 30th March. Meanwhile, in Tohoku and Hokkaido the skiing conditions are excellent and fun. Snow sports enthusiasts can expect to enjoy the snow until mid-May.

Gokayama Village Light-up

 

Gokayama, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is smaller and quieter than the arguably more famous Shirakawa-go, its sister site. Gokayama will be having a light-up festival across multiple dates this year.

Tanto Tulip Festival 2019

 

Tanto Tulip Festival 2019 will be held from the middle of April to the end of April. Come and see around 1,000,000 planted tulips that come in about 300 different varieties.

Cherry Blossom Forecast 2019

 

JNTO's 2019 Cherry Blossom forecast has been uploaded and the sakura are expected to bloom earlier this year. Tokyo's forecasted flowering date is 21st March and expecting full bloom on 30th March, and Kyoto's forecasted flowering date is 24th March with full bloom on 2nd April.
