August is the last burst of summer before the weather starts to cool, so everything is happening! From Obon celebrations to festivals and fireworks... August in Japan has it all!
The Awa Odori (Awa Dance Festival) is held in mid-August as part of the Obon celebrations in Tokushima Prefecture on Shikoku Island. Awa Odori is the largest dance celebration in Japan, as groups of dancers take to the streets performing the traditional dance.

The Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival 2019, hosted by the Cumberland Council will be held at Auburn Botanic Gardens again this year! We'll be there on the last weekend, Sat 24 Aug and Sun 25 Aug, so come by, say hi and get the latest Japan info.
