It’s still unclear when we can travel internationally again, but in the meantime we will continue to bring you travel inspiration and updates and look forward to welcoming you to Japan when the time is right.

Although less well-known than koyo (autumn leaves), cosmos flowers are also symbolic of this season. They can usually be enjoyed from mid-August to September, but at Uminonakamichi Seaside Park (pictured) in Fukuoka City they burst into bloom during the month of October.

New Adventure Travel in Japan Portal

 

JNTO has launched a new portal to showcase the myriad adventure travel activities Japan has to offer. Our handy search function lets you refine your results based on activity, destination and season to discover the perfect adventure – or simply explore the site for some inspiration!

Japan in October 

October is a great month to travel, with mild weather and the typhoon season largely over. It’s the time for harvest festivals, art and culture, scenic hikes or simply enjoying the stunning displays of autumn colours in places like Tohoku and Hokkaido.

The Side of Japan You Won’t Find on Instagram

 

Discover seven picturesque gems you likely haven’t seen splashed all over your Instagram feed before. From a once-secret pottery village in the mountains to a remote island that looks like something out of a fantasy novel and many more. 

Autumn Blooms in Fukuoka 

 

Uminonakamichi Seaside Park is a peaceful spot in Fukuoka City. Featuring seasonal blooms all year round, from mid to late October the stars of the show are the 20,000 balls of fluffy red kochia, while the cheerful cosmos flowers can generally be enjoyed throughout October.

Super Nintendo World Opening Early 2021 at Universal Studios Japan (USJ)

 

The much-anticipated Super Nintendo World is set to open at USJ in early 2021. This colourful and interactive area will feature Mario Kart and Yoshi themed rides and attractions, and a shop and cafe with exclusive themed food and merchandise. 

The Capitol Hotel Tokyu  

 

The Capitol Hotel Tokyu has received 5 stars (top rating) in Forbes Travel Guide for 2021. Located in the upscale Akasaka district in Tokyo, this luxury hotel embodies tradition yet embraces innovation, and has been welcoming visitors for over 50 years.

Kintestu Railway Health & Safety Initiatives 

 

Kintetsu Railway has released a video and created a webpage to introduce the health and safety initiatives they are taking to maintain the safety of passengers, and ensure they can continue to travel with peace of mind.
