Shosenkyo Gorge in Yamanashi Prefecture is an idyllic escape from the crowds and a beautiful setting for a hike, especially in autumn when the trees have turned into spectacular hues of gold, orange and crimson. There’s a four-kilometre hiking course that starts from Nagatoro Bridge and ends at the gorge, but a ropeway is also available for those after a more effortless way to admire the views.

Japanese Film Festival (JFF) 2020

 

JFF 2020 has announced an exciting addition to this year's programme – the JFF Plus: Online Festival. From 4-13 December stream over 25 films for free and go on a virtual journey to Japan. Read on to find out our top picks.

Japan in November 

 

November sees nature put on a truly spectacular show, with the autumn leaves reaching their peak throughout most parts of Japan in a glorious display of colour. Many illumination events also start this month which makes for an enjoyable night-time activity for children and adults alike.

Japan’s highest bridge bungy jump

 

Interested in seeing Japan from a different perspective? The highest bridge bungy jump in Japan has launched in Gifu Prefecture, set 215 metres high and overlooking a picturesque gorge that stretches out as far as the eye can see. 

New hotel opening – The Prince Kyoto Takaragaike, Autograph Collection

 

Located in Takaragaike, a favourite area of aristocrats in Kyoto for centuries, the new designer hotel is set to showcase the city’s culinary, cultural and community traditions. Attractions such as Kinkakuji Temple are also located within walking distance.
