Hi ,

August marks the final month of summer in Japan, and it’s typically filled with grand fireworks displays and countless festivals to celebrate traditional dance and culture, pray for a bountiful harvest or honour loved ones.

This year, it’s a slightly quieter affair, but still one filled with hope and excitement with the Paralympics set to start on 24 August and run until 5 September. Like the Olympics, they will be held without any overseas or domestic spectators, but the athletes are sure to appreciate your support.

In this month’s newsletter we bring you an insider’s guide to the beautiful island of Yakushima, a round-up of virtual events to enjoy from home as part of Japanaroo 2021 and lots of travel inspiration for a future trip to Japan.
