Japan's 3 Great Gardens
Dear ,

Welcome to the twelfth Dreaming Edition of the Japan Travel Trade Newsletter!

This month we are bringing you a number of new resources that JNTO has recently launched, including a redesigned trade resources page and microsites for 100+ Experiences in Japan and Adventure Travel in Japan!

NEW Safe Travel Pictograms

Travel suppliers across the country are taking increased measures to ensure the safety of guests and staff. JNTO has released a set of pictograms, which we have distributed to suppliers across the country, in an effort to make these measures uniform and easy to understand by visitors.

 ~Insider Tip~

 #12: Hanami (cherry blossom viewing)

By now the allure of Japan's famed sakura (cherry blossoms) is world renowned, and most people know that along with the sakura comes hanami - cherry blossom-viewing parties. Full articles have been dedicated to this on travel blogs all over, so for today's insider tip I'll just give you the basics:

Hanami can take place in daytime or at night, anywhere where there are sakura trees. Many people take a tarp to stake out a preferred spot in a park in the early morning; tampering with someone else's tarp, even unattended, is frowned upon. Stock up on your food and drinks (which can include beer and wine; drinking alcohol in public is perfectly legal in most parts of Japan) and hunker down to admire the beauty and chat the day (or evening) away.

Japan in April

April brings more than just sakura; mountain locations closed in the winter months (such as the Tateyama Kurobe Alpen Route) begin to open up. Read our April guide for more details or to plan ahead, discover what's on in May.

April is a month full of exciting festivals celebrating cherry blossoms and traditional culture. Read on to see a list of festivals throughout Japan for April 2021 – while dates may vary slightly each year, it can be a useful reference for planning any future travel to Japan.

Discover Japan's Chugoku region

Many visitors stick to the Golden Route (Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto). However, the relatively unexplored Chugoku region (Hiroshima, Okayama, Shimane, Tottori and Yamaguchi) is the perfect place to experience some quintessential Japanese culture and to better understand the country and its people.

Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time was released in Japan on 8 March – the final instalment of the Rebuild of Evangelion film series. Here are a couple of attractions in Japan that are sure to interest fans of this cult-classic anime series.
