Dear ,
Happy New Year, and welcome to the first Dreaming Edition of the Japan Travel Trade Newsletter for 2022, the year of the tiger!
Last year continued to present us all with more challenges, and we still don't know what to expect for this coming year, but we are hopeful that we will finally start to see the revival of our industry.
We still do not have any information on when the restrictions for travel into Japan will begin to ease up, but we will certainly keep all of you, our valued trade partners, updated when such announcements are made. In the meantime you can also check our Coronavirus travel restrictions page as this is updated regularly in line with the official information provided by the Government of Japan.
Thank you for your ongoing support and collaboration with us. We eagerly look forward to the time when we can welcome you and your clients back to Japan.
In the meantime, we will continue bringing you inspirational content that you can share with your clients or keep on file for the next time you are asked about, for instance, exclusive cultural experiences in the Kansai region.
Read on to see what else we’ve collated for you this month.

Insider Tip
#17: Kairo
When travelling in Japan in the colder months, especially if you travel to snowy areas, you may find that you need a little more than just thermals and gloves to keep you warm. Enter kairo – portable heat packs.
These come in different styles, from disposable ones with adhesive backing so you can stick them to your clothes and keep your back or stomach warm, to USB-powered rechargeable bricks that you can keep in your pocket to warm your hands. There are even kairo that are designed specifically to slip into your shoes to keep your toes from freezing off!
You can buy disposable kairo from many places including convenience stores, supermarkets and drugstores, while the microwaveable and rechargeable ones are typically found in electronic and department stores.
