I'm Just a Substitute
Particular plants are often specified for gardens or landscapes, sometimes, for whatever reason, these selections are substituted for another plant of generally similar appearance. Some substitutions will be ok, but more often than not, these substitutions will fail.

Greenlife for Bio-retention Swales and Basins

In recent years we have seen an increase in the use of Bio-retention swales and basins. Sungold™ Lomandra longifolia 'LMV100' PBR
This Lomandra has beautiful subtle golden variegated foliage that provides excellent contrast. It is suitable for large no irrigation projects, or for low maintenance gardens. The Sungold™ plant is drought and frost tolerant and is very low maintenance.
Mini Meema™ Hardenbergia violacea 'HB2' PBR
This is the most compact form of Hardenbergia available. It has a natural compact ball shape which makes it perfect for small gardens, mass planting and as a border plant. It showcases masses of purple flowers and keeps crisp, clean foliage.
New Dietes that rarely, if ever, produce seed
Fine Divine™ Dietes bicolor 'Di2' PBR
Dietes bicolor are one of the toughest landscape plants available in Australia, but the fact that they regenerate from seed has seen their popularity decline. The Fine Divine™ plant has solved this problem with lower pollen production, meaning it rarely, if ever, seeds. It also has a finer leaf and more compact form, meaning it requires very little maintenance.
Grand Star™ Dietes grandiflora 'Di1' PBR
Dietes grandiflora is another one of the toughest and most beautiful landscape plants available in Australia, but again, its ability to produce a lot of seed is a downside. Grand Star™ Dietes has a very low pollen count compared to the common form, and rarely, if ever produces viable seed. This safer exotic is enabling landscape professional to use one of the toughest and prettiest landscape plants without the worry of it seeding everywhere.
