LE LYCEE FRANCAIS DE LOS ANGELES

Did You Know

That we have a remarkable Middle School?

From the emails, it might seem that this is "The Week of the Middle School".   And so much has happened this week that it is hard to overlook the great kids of the Middle School.

First of all, as mentioned before, the Middle School did a fantastic job last week creating booths at the Bazaar that raised $4645. for our sports department.  The student's creativity and problem-solving skills were very much in evidence on that day.

Then the Middle School Drama Club performed "There's A Monster in My Closet" which demonstrated not only the acting and singing talents of these fine young thespians, but the enthusiasm that makes doing anything with the Middle School an energizing time.  When watching their performance, one couldn't help but catch some of the infectious love for life that these students have.

Yesterday, the Middle School Basketball Team, the Lions, had it's first  home game hosting The New Harvest  School Warriors.  Our middle school students were just being themselves as they politely and warmly welcomed the players from the other school.  Our undefeated basketball team played with impressive moves under the coaching of Andre Kludjian winning the game by 53 -24.  Afterward, our guests and all of the middle school were invited to a great lunch hosted by the Hajians and the New Harvest players took a dip in our pool for some afternoon recreation.  In spite of the competitive nature of this event, everybody exhibited the best in sportsmanship.  This, after all, is what team sports should strive to be about for our children.

Finally, the new Middle School designed "Green" t-shirt is on sale in the Bookstore for $15. with the proceeds going to the continued greening of the lower campus.  These T-shirts are very attractive with a "green" message and can be worn on sport's day.  Get one today!  If you have not recently seen the lower Overland campus (the exclusive home of the Middle School next year) you may not have seen the brand new  tree's, the freshly planted bamboo, and the fountain which is surrounded by beautiful greenery.  M Garnier has effectively spearheaded this program.

These extra-curricular activities mean nothing unless the students are also good scholars.  We are so happy to say  our students work very hard academically and do very well in their classes and with the tests given to them.   Le Lycée students are balanced and integrated students who pursue excellence in every aspect of their lives.  We are all very proud of them.

Thanks to  Mr. Morelock, Mr. Ray, M Garnier, M Freslon, Coach Andre and all the middle school teacher for their stellar work these past weeks and months with the middle school.  And thanks to Mrs. Kabbaz for having and sharing such a clear vision for the Middle School.

It's been a great week.
