ROCKWOOL IS APPROVED UNDER A NEW VOLUNTARY U-VALUE AND CONDENSATION RISK COMPETENCY SCHEME

Rockwool is one of only three organisations to be approved so far under a new voluntary U-value and Condensation Risk Competency Scheme recently introduced by the British Board of Agrément (BBA) in association with the Thermal Insulation Manufacturers and Suppliers Association (TIMSA). The scheme was designed in response to a widely held belief that many U-value calculations submitted were inaccurate. ‘CHANGING PLACES’- WHAT IT MEANS
|
For designers and specifiers of public environments, compliance with latest Codes of Practice is being simplified, with a new CPD on specific aspects of accessible building design. Under the revised BS8300:2009, most buildings to which the public have access should include a ‘Changing Places’ facility- a toilet for the disabled which goes beyond the established Document M regulations. Clos-O-Mat (Total Hygiene), manufacturer and supplier of disabled toileting solutions has developed a bespoke Changing Places CPD seminar.

ELLIOTT FASTRACK COMPLETES SPORTS HALL AHEAD OF SCHEDULE

Elliott Fastrack has created a new multi-purpose sports hall for Presdales School in Ware, Hertfordshire. The 34 week programme was completed four weeks ahead of schedule, using the company’s hybrid construction system. The client, Hertfordshire County Council, has been delighted with the speed of construction and quality of the completed building. The innovative hybrid construction system enabled work to continue through snow, hail, wind and rain, with the building being fittingly opened on 1st March 2010. More Website

BE PREPARED FOR NEW PART L WITH POLYPOOL

Changes to Part L of the Building Regulations due to come into force in October 2010 will require a minimum insulation U-value for heated commercial and domestic indoor swimming pools. Polypool, has developed a new insulated pool floor pack to complement its existing thermal wall panel structure, creating a fully insulated pool basin in readiness for the new regulations.
