RIBA FUTURE TRENDS SURVEY RESULTS FOR JANUARY 2011
The first Royal Institute of British Architects' (RIBA) Future Trends Survey results for 2011 presents a mixed picture, with sustained confidence amongst architects working in the private housing sector but predicted reductions in commercial and public project sector workloads. The statistical analysis of the survey enables the RIBA to regularly report on two key confidence tracking indices relating to future workloads and staffing levels. For January 2011, the RIBA Future Trends Workload Index is +1 (compared to -1 in December 2010) and the RIBA Future Trends Staffing Index is -8 (compared to -9 in December 2010). More   Website

STAFFORDSHIRE HOTEL TURNS TO INTATEC FOR STYLISH, SAFE AND ACCESSIBLE BATHROOMS

VEKA GOES 'ABOVE AND BEYOND' FOR THE NSPCC
VEKA plc has raised a staggering £3,719 for the NSPCC. It was the first company in the North West to sign up for the 'NSPCC 1600 Challenge', in which companies pledge to raise a minimum of £1,600 - the amount required to train a Childline counsellor - but VEKA actually raised an impressive £3,719. Gabriela Hammond, VEKA's HR Manager explains: “We are delighted with the way everyone here at VEKA stepped up to the challenge when it came to fundraising.” More   Website

STANNAH SCENIC LIFT BRIDGES THE GAP AT CARDIFF CENTRAL STATION

Stannah have completed the challenging installation of a scenic Passenger lift within in the Art Deco ticket hall of Cardiff Central Station. Stannah were the Principal Contractor on a 4-month project to install a lift for Arriva Trains Wales and Network Rail to ensure easy access to Platform Zero. The two-stop, through-door glass passenger lift in a structure supported glass shaft stands in the west side of the magnificent Grade 2 listed ticket hall. More   Website
EASILIFT’S NEW HIGH-TECH DOCK MANAGEMENT SYSTEM CHOSEN BY TESCO

An innovative high-tech management reporting and safety system designed to prevent the premature departure of vehicles from the loading bay is set to be installed at the Goods In section of all Tesco distribution centres across the UK.  The supermarket is investing in the Dock Management System, which was jointly developed by UK firms Easilift Loading Systems and Traka, after it impressed during a pilot scheme at Tesco’s distribution centre in Hinckley, Leicestershire.
