Laidlaw Solutions Limited once again featured prominently in the 2010/11 Specification Awards organised by the Guild of Architectural Ironmongery and the RIBA. The £6.1m Rose Lodge Care Centre for adults with learning disabilities was judged 'Winner of Winners' and 'Best Public Sector project' with Laidlaw supplying products from its specialist Orbis Anti-Ligature range. The company was also 'Commended' in the 'Hospitality and Residential Buildings' category for its work on 'Bespoke Hotels’ Bermondsey Square hotel project. More Website

LONDON OLYMPIC STADIUM

29th March 2011, marks the completion of the construction contract at the Olympic Stadium. Rod Sheard, Senior Principal at Populous, the Stadium architect said: “The construction of the world’s most environmentally friendly Olympic Stadium has taken just over 1,000 days, in the world of major construction it could be considered a sprint, its completion marks the beginning of the end of the construction phase of London’s Olympic Games.” More Website

When Britvic Soft Drinks decided to replace the windows at their Solihull office, their Facilities Infrastructure Partners Covion appointed Anglian Building Products to undertake the project. Repairs to the windows at the four-storey office had become difficult due to their age, condition and design. The specification for the new PVC-u casement windows included anti-sun glazing, fly screens to kitchen areas and remote controls to inaccessible openers. Commercial grade aluminium doors and screens were used in the entrance areas. More Website

RENEWABLE TRAINING CENTRE TARGETS KNOWLEDGE GAP

Mitsubishi Electric has opened a new Renewable Training Centre at its headquarters in Travellers Lane, Hatfield enabling the company to double the availability of training courses. The new facility more than doubles the amount of floor space available for training and will increase the number of training places to 4,000 per year. The centre allows the company to provide 12 different courses covering air conditioning, domestic heating, commercial heating and control systems. More Website
