NEW ORDERS IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY - 1ST QUARTER 2011

A HEALTHY INTEREST IN AUTOPA’S BOSTON COMPOUND

Autopa’s Boston Compound is proving popular throughout the UK. 2gether NHS Foundation Trust required secure cycle storage at ‘Wootton Lawn Hospital, Gloucester’. Following work carried out by Autopa to retrofit a shelter at another hospital managed by the NHS Trust, Autopa’s ‘Boston Compound’ was chosen as the most suitable to fit their requirements. FAST DRYING SCREED SPEEDS UP STUDENT ACCOMMODATION REFURBISHMENT

Ronacrete screeding products were used in the refurbishment of student accommodation in Islington, North London. Contractors CCS Drywall Ltd installed nearly 1,000m2 of Ronacrete Ronafix Pre-packed Screed to the new 125 bed student accommodation. “CCS chose to use Ronafix floor screeds to ensure that a quality hard wearing surface with rapid drying properties was achieved.” Robert Birch, Managing Director, CCS Drywall Ltd. PRIVA BMS TO CONTROL SUSTAINABLE HEATING / COOLING TECHNOLOGIES
Intelligent building controls from Priva Building Intelligence Ltd have been specified on the prestigious new Chase High School located in Essex. The facility’s specification includes several sustainable technologies including TermoDeck, a system that uses cooler night air to cool the building. Ultimately, the Priva BMS will control all hot water, HVAC/extraction requirements, as well as providing energy monitoring for the utilities. HAURATON HIGH CAPACITY DRAINAGE CHOSEN FOR NEWQUAY, CORNWALL AIRPORT
During the construction stage of the £52.4 million transformation of the RAF St. Mawgan Airbase to the Newquay Cornwall Airport, 300 metres of Hauraton RECYFIX® HICAP® 100 were installed in the airport’s  taxiways and hard-standing areas located in front of the terminal buildings. Made from specially formulated recycled Polyethylene-Polypropylene (PE-PP), each of the one metre HICAP® channel used weighed only 13.2kg so allowing one-man-lift of the component, greatly simplifying handling and logistics.
