THE PIER HEAD AND CANAL LINK WINS THE 2010 RIBA CABE PUBLIC SPACE AWARD
The Pier Head & Canal Link, Liverpool by AECOM has won the 2010 RIBA CABE Public Space Award. This award is presented to the architects and landscape architects of the best RIBA Award-winning public space in the UK. It recognises the valuable contribution that well-designed public space makes to the quality of the built environment, and our daily lives. AECOM’s Pier Head and new canal link project forms a flexible multipurpose public space which encompasses waterway, performance space, and large capacity venue, whilst showcasing Liverpool’s heritage, and allowing for quiet contemplation of the city, taking in its buildings and views.

£2.2M REVAMP DEAL FOR RUSSELLS CONSTRUCTION


Russells Construction
has been appointed contractor for a £2.2m contract with landowner Royal London Asset Management and development management partner Industrial Securities, for the refurbishment of a 35,000 sq ft office building at Atlantic Park. Having won the contract on competitive tender, Russells will be responsible for the internal fit out, mechanical and electrical engineering works, replacement roof, car park and external landscaping. Russells Construction has developed a specialism for high quality office refurbishments and new build commercial developments.

Crown Trade’s new Steracryl Anti Bacterial Scrubbable Matt coating – developed to tackle hospital acquired infections such as MRSA - has made the grade after successful field trials at Caithness General Hospital. It utilises the natural power of silver for a high performance hygienic finish, with a long lasting finish formulation to support maintenance programmes. Applied within The Maternity Suite, the emulsion has since withstood an intensive cleaning regime to maintain appearance, durability and resistance to burnishing whilst supporting infection control. COOL AIR CURTAINS DOWN UNDER

JS Air Curtains has supplied six Zen air curtains to The Reef Hotel Casino in Cairns, Australia. The units were installed to help solve a condensation problem due to an average daily maximum outdoor temperature of 29°C. Glyn Wakeman, Sales Engineer at Haden, commented, “…Since the Zen air curtains from JS have been installed, which come on as the doors open by relays - no BMS involved, they’ve stopped the hot air blowing in.” More. THE VERSATILITY OF GRADIENT’S INSULATION SOLUTIONS

UK experts in tapered, single-layer roofing insulation Gradient Flat Roofing had to overcome numerous complex technical challenges to complete the project at Manchester’s Wythenshawe Hospital and install single-layer roofing insulation across the 8,600 mt2 roof.  “Each section of a Gradient single-layer solution is designed to fit a specific location on the roof and then manufactured in our factory and delivered to site ready to install,” explains Gradient’s National Field Sales Manager, Steve

The Tudor House Museum is Southampton’s oldest museum and dearly loved by local residents. It is undergoing extensive refurbishment to turn it into a magnificent attraction for locals and tourists alike. HI-FOG® from Marioff has been selected to provide modern fire protection.
