HICKTON SETS THE STANDARDS AT LEISUREZONE

Hickton has provided Clerk of Works Services on the new £25m state of the art Harlow Leisurezone. The development gives the town its first ever combined wet and dry sporting facility on one site. The building has a 25m x 8 lane swimming pool, changing facilities, crèche/nursery, along with on-site catering and bars. A new campus aiming to achieve ‘very good’ environmental ratings is taking that grading through to its construction techniques. West Cheshire College has commissioned two new campuses, at Ellesmere Port and Chester, at a cost of £65m, aimed at providing high quality facilities to improve vocational opportunities. Being built by BAM Construction, the core of the Ellesmere Port build has been created using large format structural insulated panels (SIPs), manufactured, supplied and installed by McVeigh Insulations. GUIDE TO CODE'S SUR1 - LIMITING SURFACE WATER RUN-OFF

Kingspan Water has written a Guide on the Code for Sustainable Homes’ provision to limit surface water run-off in new developments. A lack of awareness of this area of the Code known as SUR1, could get an otherwise excellent development rated Level Zero. TRADITIONAL TECHNIQUES GIVE NEW LIFE TO AN OLD FAVOURITE

Kier North Tyneside Ltd has been appointed to undertake restoration work on a North East coastline icon. The contractor has been tasked with making Whitley Bay’s Spanish City Dome structurally sound, weather proofing and re-roofing it and restoring its original bright white colour. Wherever possible, Kier North Tyneside is employing authentic methods and materials to reinstate the Dome to its former glory, working closely with both the Council’s Historic Buildings Officer and English Heritage.
