BELOW-SLAB INSULATION HELPS PREVENT THERMAL BRIDGING
Installing insulation below the floor slab helps create an envelope of continuous insulation that minimizes heat loss. Installing extra insulation beneath a floor during construction also makes the most of internal space and provides a one-off opportunity that could help compensate for design and construction changes made during a building’s lifetime. FLOORMATE 300-A, from Dow Building Solutions, resists moisture and is durable enough to be laid beneath floors, helping to avoid thermal bridges at floor and wall junctions.

ANCON TEPLOTIE USED IN BRITISH PASSIVHAUS
Ancon TeploTie, the low thermal conductivity wall tie manufactured from basalt fibres, has been used in the first certified Passivhaus to be built using traditional masonry cavity walls. Achieving the energy efficiency levels of Passivhaus relies on the construction of a well-insulated airtight building envelope. Thermal bridges must be removed wherever possible to limit heat loss. The TeploTie is the only wall tie which gives a nil reading for heat transference in a wide cavity application. More. Website. Product. Project.
