RICS COMMENT ON LAND REGISTRY DATA
Commenting on the latest Land Registry figures, Simon Rubinsohn, RICS chief economist said:  “The strongest monthly gain in June was in Wales but London continues to post the highest year-on-year increase (12.2 per cent). The Welsh data is not only out of line with recent Land Registry figures (from the country) but also with the results of the RICS Housing Survey (which show a much more subdued picture) making us question the sustainability of this rise in prices. […] The more worrying element of the Land Registry data is the continuing weakness in transaction activity.” More. Website.

STYROCLAD ROOF SYSTEM ENHANCES THERMAL PERFORMANCE

Just 12 months since the launch of two new types of roof insulation boards, Panel Systems is reporting a great response from specifiers. The Styroclad range is renowned for helping to address issues, such as insulating semi-exposed concrete decks or soffits, as well as reducing cold bridging on upstands or parapets in roof applications. The Styroclad boards are manufactured from 6mm fibre-cement board, which is bonded to high performance insulation. It is lightweight and easy to use. More. Website.
SMART SHOWERING TECHNOLOGY FROM REDRING
Redring has added a stylish new range to its growing portfolio of affordable and easy to install electric showers.  The Expressions 500SC and 500SL ranges feature ‘SMART’ technology and are available in either chrome (SC) or silver (SL) to complement any modern bathroom.  Fully temperature stabilised and with Smart Time phased shutdown, the unit is programmed to electronically flush out any residual hot water, which reduces scale and ensures a safe cool temperature when turned on. BELOW-SLAB INSULATION HELPS PREVENT THERMAL BRIDGING
Installing insulation below the floor slab helps create an envelope of continuous insulation that minimizes heat loss.  Installing extra insulation beneath a floor during construction also makes the most of internal space and provides a one-off opportunity that could help compensate for design and construction changes made during a building’s lifetime. FLOORMATE 300-A, from Dow Building Solutions, resists moisture and is durable enough to be laid beneath floors, helping to avoid thermal bridges at floor and wall junctions.

MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC ANNOUNCES VOLUNTARY RECALL
Mitsubishi Electric UK has taken the unprecedented step of issuing a product safety recall after a component failure in one of its Ecodan® air source heat pumps.  “We have installed more than 6,000 of these units in the UK over the last few years and have had a single component failure in one of our units,” explains John Kellett, General Manager of the company’s Domestic Heating Systems Department.  “We are very aware that any incident with a heat pump has the potential to undermine confidence and we wanted customers to realise just how much importance we place on product reliability and safety.” The recall affects all of the models (W50, W85, W90, HW140) except the W85 models produced in Scotland. NEW REMMERS IQ-THERM INSULATION MEETS THE LATEST REGULATIONS

Remmers iQ-Therm is the first internally applied insulation system that can meet the next level of Building Regulations for thermal efficiency in wall insulation, without creating a vapour barrier and the subsequent risk of problems with condensation and mould growth.  Remmers iQ-Therm is supplied and installed as thin, breathable, organic foam panels. These are bedded and bonded with specially designed mortars and tapes, followed by Remmers finishing mortars or renders. More. Website. Video.
ANCON TEPLOTIE USED IN BRITISH PASSIVHAUS

Ancon TeploTie, the low thermal conductivity wall tie manufactured from basalt fibres, has been used in the first certified Passivhaus to be built using traditional masonry cavity walls. Achieving the energy efficiency levels of Passivhaus relies on the construction of a well-insulated airtight building envelope. Thermal bridges must be removed wherever possible to limit heat loss. The TeploTie is the only wall tie which gives a nil reading for heat transference in a wide cavity application. More. Website. Product. Project.
