LIFE ON THE FARM IS A BREEZE

For farmhouse owners Ann and John Foggin, being able to open the windows is a breath of fresh air. Ventrolla North East was instructed to restore the windows at the five-star bed and breakfast accommodation on Tower Tosson Farm in Rothbury, Northumberland. The couple struggled to open the windows in the guest bedrooms as many of the sash windows had been stuck shut with layers of paint. John said: “Having the windows renovated has made such a difference.”

STO SUPPORTS A GRAND DESIGN

Channel 4s recent Grand Design (screened 22 September) featured the first house in England to be certified to Passivhaus standard, made possible by the extensive use of StoTherm Classic external wall insulation system. Architect Helen Seymour Smith set out to build a Passivhaus but, finding there was very little information on the principles in the UK, worked with Sto’s technical team and visited Sto in Germany to get comprehensive information on how the principles can be put into practice.
