Pet Vet Animal Hospital
Dental Awareness Month

February is Dental Awareness Month.  Can you believe that 80% of pets suffer from dental disease?  Dental disease leads to bad breath, gingivitis, tooth loss, infection and pain.  In addition, the bacteria from dental disease can spread to internal organs such as the liver, kidneys, heart and lungs causing them damage.  With regular teeth cleanings, your pet can reduce or even eliminate developing periodontal (gum) disease.  At Pet Vet Animal Hospital we offer both Anesthetic and Non-Anesthetic Dental Cleanings.  If you have any questions, please feel free to call our office at any time.

Non-Anesthetic vs. Anesthetic Dentals

"Anesthesia-Free" dentals are recommended for pets with mild to moderate dental disease (grade I and II), those who may be at risk for anesthesia complications such as heart disease or other systemic illnesses and for dogs and cats who allow for easy handling.

Anesthetic dentals  are "traditional" teeth cleanings performed every day for dogs and cats with moderate to severe periodontal disease.  This procedure is an effective way to minimize bacteria and plaque accumulation, help with malodorous breath and is an important part of keeping our pets happy and healthy.
