Turkey Day warning for your pets:

As much as we all enjoy the feast on Thanksgiving all too often, owners give their pets their own 'serving'.

This can lead to many GI problems from diarrhea to pancreatitis which in many cases requires hospitalization. And bones from the turkey can cause punctures in the stomach and intestines.

Please use caution when giving your pets 'table scraps' this holiday season.

Non-Anesthetic Dentals

Periodontal (gum) disease is a terrible problem facing our cat and dog population and one of the most common health concerns of pets today. As Veterinarians we are faced with multiple issues as a result of poor oral hygiene. We see pets everyday with large amounts of plaque and tartar, swollen red gums and staining.  But this is just the 'surface'. Did you know that bacteria can enter the blood stream and damage the major organs of the body like the heart, liver and kidneys?

However, dental disease is not only something that can be avoided but in many cases it is reversible. By having your pets teeth professionally cleaned and polished and by regularly brushing at home, most of the problems and large costs may be avoided.

Pet Vet is proud to offer a new service called "Anesthesia-free dental care"! Select dogs and cats will be able to have their teeth professionally cleaned without anesthesia and is about 1/2 the cost associated with the traditional cleanings. It's quick, easy and pain free!

The procedure costs only $180.  Sign up today for our next Non-anesthetic Dental day on December 15th 2009!  Please feel free to contact our office at anytime for more details!

Time to get those pearly whites clean and breath smelling good for the holidays!
