CHILDREN'S EVENTS

The Little Red Hen

The classic story reimagined by Youth Stages. The children, as Baby Chicks, will plant, grow, and reap wheat with the Little Red Hen. They will make and eat the bread without the assistance of the other lazy animals. Or maybe they will choose to be the lazy animals and the Youth Stages performer will be left to do all the work! Come enjoy PLAY-SHOP with Youth Stages!

Saturday, May 17th at
1 p.m. in ALD Room

19th-Century New Jersey Photographers:
Union County

Saturday, May 3, 2014

from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
in the Anne Louise Davis Gallery Room

Of the approximately 3,000 different photographers who were active in New Jersey before 1900, a substantial number worked in Union County. In a slideshow lecture, Gary D. Saretzky will profile these pioneers, especially in Elizabeth, Rahway, and Plainfield, and discuss them within the larger context of New Jersey photography in the nineteenth century. Among the photographers to be featured will be Alfred S. Campbell and Guillermo Thorn.

Saretzky, archivist and photographer, has been Monmouth County Archivist since 1994. Saretzky also taught the history of photography at Mercer County Community College from 1977 to 2012. He has published more than 100 articles and reviews on the history of photography, photographic conservation, and other topics.
