Dear Subscriber,
Well March has seen the opening of Terrain - Navigating New Landscapes for the South West at the Griffith Regional Gallery. The exhibition features 6 local artists who have put together an amazing exhibition which showcases the challenges and changes occuring in our region. Thank you agin to all the artists involved and congratulations to those who have red dots on their work. The exhibition is now heading to Cube 37 in Frankston, Victoria.
April will be yet again another busy month with the Rotary Club of Deniliquin's Easter Art Show at the Town hall, Boroorban Back Too and Time Capsule opening featuring Pete Denahy as the entertainment for the family dinner event and Outback Theatre for Young People are offering a few school holiday programes. South West Arts AGM 17th April 2010
It’s almost that time of year again, time for the South West Arts Annual General Meeting. It will be held on Saturday the 17th of April at Wanganella Hall. Our board meeting will be start at 9:30am till 11am, and then morning tea and the AGM will kick off at 11:30 followed by a short general meeting & Lunch. Everyone is welcome to attend and to stay for lunch. There are some positions that are available on the board, if you are interested please contact Alyce for a nomination form. If you are able to attend please RSVP by the 9th of April.
“Bush Concert Series” for the South West
South West Music in partnership with South West Arts are very excited to announce that we have received Arts NSW funding through the Regional Conservatorium Association, to hold a series of concerts in 2010 titled “The Bush Concert Series”. Three different musical acts will tour to various locations throughout the South West during the year. The first concert will be ‘Mic Conway's National Junk Band’ political satire meets jug band blues. Lunatic onstage antics and musical mayhem combine as a new-vaudevillian cabaret, featuring saws, nose flutes, sousaphone and a real kitchen sink. Also touring will be Shaula Salathe, Australia’s leading Singer/Harpist and Mal Web, the vocal adventurer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Melbourne. Dates and venues for these performances to be confirmed.
Communications Promotions and Marketing Officer needed for SWA

South West Arts Inc is the peak body for arts and cultural development within the 9 shires of South Western NSW and is seeking a new Communications, Promotions and Administration Officer. The successful applicant will be responsible for the improvement of our established website, collation of our regular E-Bulletins and Fund-It Bulletins, Media Releases, liaising with local media organisations, design of promotional material, assisting with general administration and assisting the RADO where required. Terrain – Navigating New Landscapes for the South West
When: 6th till the 24th of April
Where: Cube 37, Frankston Arts Centre, Victoria
South West Arts is very excited to be able to take this exciting exhibition down to Melbourne to showcase our local artists. If you are able to go down to Melbourne and check it out while it’s down there it’s well worth the look. The exhibition explores, documents and records the significant physical, social and ecological changes currently occurring in the South West region of NSW, due to the drought and long term effects of climate change. These changes have impacted severely on the social fabric of the region which is largely woven by the agricultural industry. The exhibition will travel to Shear Outback in Hay in May. The Rotary Club of Deniliquin Easter Art Show
When: 1st to the 5th of April
Where: Deniliquin Town Hall
This will be the 18th annual Art Show for Deniliquin and is well worth the look. The town hall will covered in Art Work from across the region. For more information, contact the 0419 147 335

Outback Theatre for Young People – School Holiday Program
When: 6th April till 9th April & 12th to the 15th of April
Where: Golden Rivers Theatre in Barham
Cost: $20 per person (covers both weeks)
Young people will work with professional theatre makers from Zeal Theatre on acting drama skills and devise their own play. Workshops will be fun, dynamic and creative and young people will have the chance to learn from some Australia’s best theatre makers. No experience necessary, these workshops are for everyone. Outback Theatre for Young People – Autumn Holiday Drama and Acting Workshop
When: 12th till 16th April
Where: MFR – Deniliquin High School
Cost: $15 per person (covers whole week)
