Your Community Cares receives another year of funding
Your Community Cares has gratefully received another year of funding through the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs’ Community Investment Program. YCC aims to support and initiate community events and projects that act as a catalyst to generate resilience and hope by bringing people in difficult circumstances together to share their troubles, their hopes and their dreams and in so doing to build stronger social networks.

Bundanon Artist in Residence
The Bundanon Trust Artist in Residence program is open to professional artists and groups, from all disciplines. The program supports artists’ new work, research and collaborations. Australian and international artists are hosted in purpose-built studios located at the Bundanon properties on the Shoalhaven River in NSW. The Artist in Residence Program offers free accommodation and studio space for up to six weeks.

Positive Ageing Grants Program
The 2010–11 Positive Ageing Grants program provides one-off grants to local Government and not-for-profit organisations to implement positive ageing projects throughout 2011. This year, funding is available under two categories: Small grants - grants of $5,000 are available for positive ageing projects in local areas throughout NSW and State wide grants - Two Positive Ageing Grants of $30,000 each are available for state-wide positive ageing projects. One grant of $30,000 is available to organisations to implement a project across NSW that specifically targets the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, and another grant of $30,000 is available to organisations to implement a project across NSW that specifically targets the culturally and linguistically diverse community.

Expressions of Interest in $12M Regional Employment and Development Fund
The $12 million Riverina Red Gum Regional Employment and Community Development Fund expressions of interest are now open. Applicants can seek funding from $1,000 to over $1.5 million for projects designed to boost economic development in the Riverina red gum areas. The fund is designed to generate and sustain local employment, improve access to and availability of workforce development, build community resilience and help offset costs of business expansion in the region.
To be eligible, the projects must be of benefit to the local government areas of Murray, Conargo, Deniliquin, Wakool, Balranald, Berrigan or Murrumbidgee. After the expressions of interest process, shortlisted projects will be asked to submit a more detailed proposal. Assistance is also available for groups needing help putting together their expression of interest by calling the Environmental Trust on 02 8837 6093.

Arts NSW Grants – Artist in Schools – Extended Residencies
Up to $35,000 to assist schools to acquire an artist in residence for at least two terms or 50 days. Guidelines and application details available online.

Artist in schools – Individual Residencies
Up to $8,000 ($12,000 for a cluster of schools) for minimum residency of 20 days. Applications are to be made to the Department of Education and Training (DET) and are accepted from NSW public schools. If initiated by an artist, the application must be jointly made by the artist and the school. Applications open 1 March - closing late August 2010 For delivery in 2011– approximately 10 residencies will be supported each year. Details and guidelines are on the DET website.

Regional Services Program
The Regional Services Program of the Powerhouse Museum supports cultural heritage organisations across New South Wales to record, preserve and display their collections for the benefit of regional communities. Organisations and individuals with a specific project are invited to submit an Expression of Interest for support through Regional Internships, the Movable Heritage Fellowship or the Professional Advice and Project Assistance program.
Applications due The closing date for applications for Professional Advice, Project Assistance and Regional Internships is 27 August 2010. Applications for the Movable Heritage Fellowship close on 4 February 2011.

Arts Management Residencies Asia
The Asialink arts management residency program allows you to mobilise and expand your international networks, and enhance your managerial expertise. Asialink Residency grants of up to $12,000 cover the costs of getting you off the ground and into the creative hothouses of Asia, with professional development funding for airfares, accommodation and other support expenses. Through this concentrated term of engagement you will deepen intercultural conversations, build professional partnerships and networks, and contribute to the design of your host’s programs in establishing more enduring commitments in the region. Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents with three or more years professional experience, and must not be currently enrolled in a tertiary institution.

Regional Event Development workshops
Tourism New South Wales will be holding a series of Regional Event Development workshops across NSW between August to November. The aim of the workshops is to help assist communities to develop sustainable events that will attract visitors to their regions. The Workshops will help people to cultivate skills in staging events and assist event organisers to develop skills to grow their events to reach their full potential.

2011 Project Funding (Quick Response)
Quick Response Project Funding supports unexpected artistic and professional development opportunities for individuals, groups and small to medium organisations. Eligible projects in this category would not meet the criteria or timing of project categories as part of the main Arts Funding Program.
The objectives of the Quick Response Project Funding are to:

support professional and artistic development in NSW
•
stimulate arts and cultural development in NSW
•
support the employment of NSW artists
•
contribute to innovation and excellence
•
engage with new audiences
•
improve performance and production standards;
•
promote the NSW arts and cultural sector nationally and internationally.

Deni’s Famous ‘Ute on the Pole’ to be named
The ‘Ute on the Pole’ needs a name so the Ute Muster and Deni Council have teamed up with VACC to hold a competition to find the perfect name for the iconic ute. You can enter as many times as you like, the winner will be announced in late September, prior to the event. There is also a chance to win some great prizes including a pair of adult Deni Ute Muster tickets, a helicopter ride for two, Deni Ute Muster merchandise and a backstage meet and greet for two with some of the Muster’s great artists. But Wait There's More...
Screen It Competition
Registrations are now open for Screen It, the national competition for school aged filmmakers run annually by the Australian Centre for the Moving Image. This years’ theme The Environment: Who Cares? provides a valuable trigger for students and teachers to investigate environmental issues while learning filmmaking techniques along the way. This year registration is completely free and is accessible online. The competition is open to anyone enrolled in primary or secondary education and students can enter through their school or independently. Entries can be live-action films, computer games or animations, but must incorporate the theme. Guidelines and application details online.
