LONG PADDOCK NEWS

Well November was a jammed packed month for Long Paddock events, workshops and tours. I would like to thank everyone for their hard work in the organisation
of all the successful events. The highlights were the ARTback Sculpture, Black Tie, launch at The Black Swap; all in all an Iconic Australian Event. South West Arts also ran workshops with the ARTback sculpture artists and sent local emerging artists on a tour of the Artist’s workshop’s in Melbourne & Castlemaine. If you missed out on attending the free workshops held in November have no fear as we are holding one on the 10th of December and fingers crossed another in the new-year.

ORAL HISTORY WORKSHOP’S BERRIGAN SHIRE

A free comm
unity skill development workshop was hosted by Berrigan Shire Council in November and was professionally facilitated by Rosemary Block, Curator of Oral History and member of The Oral History Association of Australia. The workshops where held in Finley on the 26th and 27th of November. Andrew Richardson, Community Development Officer for the Berrigan Shire was very happy with the response from the participants who were taught the practice and technique of Oral History to help preserve local community and family history. Rosemary also delivered a workshop for Finley High School students on the Friday before she left for Sydney. We hope that we will be able to hold more Oral History based workshops in the future, Rosie is very keen on seeing more of the South West of NSW and of course hearing your stories.

Country Arts Support Program (CASP) Is Open

The Silly Season also means it is time to start thinking about CASP. Manhattan is an exhilarating American romance set against the backdrop of New York of the late 70's: my favorite New York, the New York of painters, poets, punks, and Pauline Kael. Three great, very American talents -- Woody Allen, Gordon Willis, and George Gershwin -- intertwine their respective gifts to create a comedy that manages to satisfy both the brain and the heart, and even, perhaps, the lower regions. A chance to see excellent films in a sociable atmosphere, this is a Deniliquin Film Society screening. Supper provided and your first visit is free. Contact Kate (03) 5884 6688
