The Myer Foundation | Small Grants Program
The priority areas for The Myer Foundation's Small Grants Program are to build capacity of the individual through ensuring professional artists gain access to training, development and mentoring; to develop new works by individual Australian artists and small to medium-sized organisations in the areas of Indigenous arts, regional arts, and experimental and emerging art forms; and to support projects that contribute to a broad understanding of and engagement with the Humanities. Grants are capped at $30,000 and are generally made for a twelve month period only.

Shed Development Grants
All Sheds in Australia can apply for up to $10,000 (GST excl) for a range of financial support across three funding categories: Workspace Development; Building and Operational; and Shed Co-ordinator.  This allows Sheds and organisations supporting Sheds in the community to apply for funds to better respond to local needs. The funding available directly to Men’s Sheds includes provisions for Men’s Sheds to apply to the Australian Men’s Sheds Association  for items such as tools, equipment, purpose built workspaces, improvements to Sheds and the engagement of a Shed Co-ordinator.

Riverina First Community Grant
The Riverina First Community Fund is a philanthropic fund to be used to improve social, cultural and community services and facilities in Riverina communities. Projects are not expected to have a telecommunications focus. Funds can be used for capital works, as contributions to existing community initiatives, and as a financial contribution to assist and improve upon opportunities to access additional funds for community projects where a matching financial contribution is required. The grants are up to $2000 for individual projects by a community or not for profit group.

Penguin Varuna Development Scholarship 2011
The scholarship winner will receive a substantial cash prize, residential time at Varuna, the Writers’ House, and 20 hours of professional editorial assistance from Penguin over one year.  New and emerging writers of adult fiction and narrative nonfiction should apply, including published writers trying a genre different from most of their published work. Applicants need to have an extensive (book-length) work in progress and are asked to submit the first 50 pages.

Splendid Arts Lab

Splendid brings together knowledge and creative professionals from performance, public art, visual arts, architecture, design and digital technology to explore the ways that art can transform a public space and break open new possibilities for audience experience. Organisers are calling out for creatives of all stripes to participate in the 2011 Splendid Arts Lab. You must be a young and emerging artist – a practitioner under 30, or in the first 5 years of your practice. Successful applicants will attend a three week residential Arts Lab from Monday 25 July to Friday 12 August 2011. They will also participate in artist talks and a festival symposium, receive free tickets to Splendour in the Grass 2011, and have the opportunity to submit a proposal for a new work to be commissioned for Splendour in the Grass 2012. Participants will be given a fee to cover accommodation, travel and incidentals.

National Library of Australia | Community Heritage Grants

The Community Heritage Grants program provides grants of up to $15,000 to community organisations such as libraries, archives, museums, genealogical and historical societies, multicultural and Indigenous groups. The grants are provided to assist with the preservation of locally owned, but nationally significant collections of materials that are publicly accessible including artifacts, letters, diaries, maps, photographs, and audio visual material.

Casella Art Prize

Casella Wines and Griffith Regional Art Gallery invite artists to enter works in the 2011 Casella Art Prize. This national art prize aims to discover new talent and support established artists within Australia. Artists entering the 2011 Casella Art Prize are to create an original painted artwork and interpret the theme 'Australia’s built and natural environment'. Artists will be in the running for the $5,000 Casella Art Prize for excellence in painting and the $2,500 Riverina Artist Prize.

Ian Potter Cultural Trust

The Ian Potter Cultural Trust seeks to encourage the diversity and excellence of emerging artists in Australia. The Trust makes grants of up to $7,000 to early career artists practising in a wide range of disciplines within the arts, including the performing and visual arts, crafts, music, the media, literature, design, community arts and other areas. The Trust was established by The Ian Potter Foundation in 1993 to enable individual artists of exceptional talent to be given support to undertake professional development overseas, including postgraduate study.

John Fries Memorial Prize now Open
The John Fries Memorial Prize is an award of $10,000, this annual prize is open to all artists resident in Australia and New Zealand who are not enrolled as a student and whose work is not represented in the collection of  a regional, state, territory or national public art gallery. Artists of all ages and disciplines, whether members of Viscopy or not, are eligible to enter.

Indigenous Arts Fellowship

From 2011 the value of the Indigenous Arts Fellowship has doubled (from $15,000 to $30,000) and it will be offered annually as part of Arts NSW’s implementation of the NSW Aboriginal Arts and Cultural Strategy.  The applicant’s proposal can include further study or training, professional research or the undertaking of a particular arts project. The Fellowship may be undertaken in Australia or overseas.  To be eligible to apply for this Fellowship, applicants must be an Indigenous Australian citizen currently resident in New South Wales or be an Indigenous Australian holding a permanent residence visa currently resident in New South Wales.
