Country Arts Support Program (CASP)
This is an annual small grants program that supports community cultural development in regional NSW. Applications will be opening towards the end of November/early December. If you are considering applying in 2011, it would be worthwhile having a look at the 2010 guidelines and application forms – these may slightly change for 2011, but are likely to remain much the same. It is essential to phone your local RADO Alyce Fisher to discuss your idea.

Community Relations Commission | Sponsorship Grants
Sponsorship grants are for special events such as festivals and major cultural events. Events should occur no less than three months after the closing date of applications. Examples of projects supported by funding in this category are: the hosting of seminars and conferences; multicultural and inter-community forums; local festivals and events; and teaching skills to target groups from a culturally diverse background. The sponsorship fund provided by the Commission is a nominal amount to indicate support of the activity by the Commission. It is not provided to facilitate the financial viability of the event.

The Myer Foundation | Small Grants Program
The priority areas for The Myer Foundation's Small Grants Program are: to build capacity of the individual through ensuring professional artists gain access to training, development and mentoring; to develop new works by individual Australian artists and small to medium-sized organisations in the areas of Indigenous arts, regional arts, and experimental and emerging art forms; and to support projects that contribute to a broad understanding of and engagement with the Humanities. Grants are capped at $30,000 and are generally made for a twelve month period only.

Australia Council | Geek in Residence Program: Geeks
The Australia Council’s Geek in Residence pilot program aims to support technically confident artists (or artistically confident technicians) who want to assist arts organisations develop their digital skills and confidence. Artists will be matched and placed with successful host applicants for a period of up to 12 months. Successful geeks will receive a salary of up to $50,000 depending on the placement and negotiations with the host organisation. Applications are encouraged from individuals who want to help arts organisations discover ‘their’ own inner geek; be challenged by exciting and creative projects; develop their own skills while contributing to the art sector; and get out of their ‘boring’ day job (for a bit – at least).

The Ian Potter Cultural Trust
The Ian Potter Cultural Trust seeks to encourage the diversity and excellence of emerging artists in Australia. The Trust makes grants of up to $7,000 to early career artists practicing in a wide range of disciplines within the arts, including the performing and visual arts, crafts, music, the media, literature, design, community arts and other areas. The Trust was established by The Ian Potter Foundation in 1993 to enable individual artists of exceptional talent to be given support to undertake professional development overseas, including postgraduate study. The Trust is distinctive in both scale and breadth, and unmatched in Australia.

Metro Screen | 'Breaks' Funding Programs
Fourteen screen projects will share in over $70,000 worth of grants through three programs at Metro Screen in 2011: First Break, Breakout, and Indigenous Breakthrough. The 'Breaks' programs are funded by Screen Australia and Screen NSW with the aim of developing and nurturing new and established filmmakers in NSW. First Break Eleven projects of up to 8 minutes duration from first-time filmmakers will be selected for production funding of $3,000.
Breakout Two projects of up to 15 minutes screen duration from experienced filmmakers will be selected for production funding of $15,000.
Indigenous Breakthrough One project of up to 20 minutes screen duration from experienced Indigenous filmmakers will be selected for production funding of $22,000.

Albury Digital Outdoor Gallery | Call for submissions
Every fortnight during 2011, Albury's QEII Square will be transformed into a digital outdoor gallery. Multimedia works from established and emerging artists around the country will be showcased alongside short films. Albury City is currently developing a curated program that will bring public art to the people and offer a splash of contemporary art to the heart of the CBD. Works will be screened every second Thursday to Saturday evening from sundown to 10pm, commencing Thursday 3 February 2011.

Bald Archy Prize
Artists are invited to submit paintings in competition for the Bald Archy Prize 2011. The prize will be awarded to the best comic or satiric portrait, preferably of an Australian distinguished in Art, Science, Letters, Politics, Sport or the Media painted by an artist during the 12 months preceding 21 January 2011. The Bald Archy Prize will be previewed at the Watson Arts Centre from 10 February 10 2011 to 14 March 14 2011. The winner will be announced in Sydney on 19 April 2011. This will be followed by a touring exhibition of selected works to a number of other venues throughout Australia. Each competitor may enter up to three works, which must be available for sale.

NAVA Grants
Janet Holmes à Court Artist's Grant Grants of up to $500 for individuals and $1,000 for groups to support the public presentation of visual arts, craft and design. This can include, but is not limited to, framing, media releases, media photographs, advertising, space rental, installation costs, promotional printing, mail outs, documentation, freight, travel, equipment rental, insurance, technical assistance and opening costs.
Marketing Grant for New Artists Grants of up to $1,250 for individuals and up to $2,500 for groups to assist professional visual artists and craftspeople in NSW to effectively promote and market their work throughout NSW, interstate and overseas.

But Wait There's More...
National Rural Health Photo and Poetry Competition
In conjunction with the 11th National Rural Health Conference, Friends of the Alliance is holding a photographic and poetry competition to highlight life in rural and remote Australia. Entries are open to all members of the rural and remote health community, except professional photographers and poets. There is a limit of two entries per participant in each category. The winners of each category will be announced at the 11th National Rural Health Conference in Perth in March 2011. $500 will be awarded to the winner of each category and $250 to second place in each category.
