MyRegion National Photographic Competition

Entries are now being sought for the inaugural MyRegion National Photographic Competition. Entrants to represent their region and it's communities with pictures of people, places, wildlife, landscapes and nature. In addition to category-winning images, Australians have the opportunity to select their favourite image. The public is also invited to comment on posted images and contribute to discussion that supports these important images of Australia. Entrants may submit up to 15 high resolution Australian images photographed in the past year. Winning images will be exhibited at the National Film and Sound Archive in July 2011.

Call for Entries for Rob McNamara Exhibition
'field' invites established and emerging artists of all mediums to explore the theme ‘There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in’ and to submit artworks for possible inclusion in the 2011 Rob McNamara Exhibition. 'field' hopes that in working to the theme, artists will embark upon a learning experience, and that the resulting exhibition is a diverse, challenging and enriching experience for its viewers. The 2011 Rob McNamara Exhibition will run from 5 -18 August at Collingwood Gallery on Smith Street in Collingwood, Victoria.

Artists in Schools: Extended Residencies
 


The national Creative Education Partnerships program has been developed in conjunction with the Australia Council, Arts NSW and the Department of Education and Training.  The program aims to provide students, teachers, parents and the wider school community with first-hand opportunities to work with professional artists over a period of time, enriching schools arts programs and encouraging future artists and arts audiences in all art forms as well as support learning in the NSW Curriculum.  Amounts of up to $35,000 are available.

Dorothea Mackellar Poetry Awards
The Dorothea Mackellar Poetry Awards is the oldest and largest poetry competition for school students in Australia. The poetry awards aim to capture the imagination of students, inspiring them to express their thoughts creatively through poetry, while celebrating the legendary work of Dorothea Mackellar, author of the famous poem My Country. It is a unique national event, giving Australia’s young people a voice and an opportunity to strive for excellence in literature. The awards are hosted by the Dorothea Mackellar Memorial Society which is based in Gunnedah, north-west NSW.

Countryscapes Art Prize 2011

Now in its ninth year, Countryscapes showcases the wealth of artistic talent across country and coastal New South Wales while contributing to the visual arts industry. It is Australia’s richest annual landscape art prize, attracting entries from previous Archibald and Blake Prize winners to first time entrants. Countryscapes 2011 is open to anyone who lives within Essential Energy’s network area and artists are encouraged to enter all artistic styles, mediums and contexts – ranging from observational to abstract, charcoal to traditional oil paint. The winner will be announced at the end of November, with all finalists' works being displayed in an exhibition from 25 November - 15 January 2011.

TranSCRIBE  - Young Writer’s Competition
The Transcultural Mental Health Centre is calling for undiscovered creative writers aged between 12-24 years across NSW to enter the 2011 Young Writer’s Competition, TranSCRIBE. The theme for this year’s 8th Young Writer’s Competition is ‘Half Way Home’. Entrants are encouraged to write about one of two topics - Topic 1: Write about a young person living with and/or recovering from mental health issues either personally, in their family or with their friends, or Topic 2: Write about a young person from a culturally and/or linguistically diverse community and their journey to or within Australia and how this has shaped their view of the world they live in.
Entries must be emailed or uploaded to the TranSCRIBE website.  Prizes are available for outstanding entries and successful entries are published in a booklet of winning entries.

Quick Response project funding
Quick Response project funding is available for professional individuals, groups and small-to medium-sized organisations who have received an unexpected invitation to participate in a recognised national or international arts and cultural event / activity.  Amounts of up to $3,000 for professional individuals, up to $10,000 for groups of professional individuals and partnerships and up to $10,000 for small- to medium-sized organisations

Applications Now Open for Regional Arts Fund 2012



Applications are now being accepted for the Regional Arts Fund (NSW), one of the key funding sources for arts and cultural activities in regional, rural and remote communities of NSW. The Regional Arts Fund (RAF) is an initiative of the Australian Government. It supports arts and cultural activities that have long term cultural, economic and social benefits, promote partnerships and cultural networks, and provide skills development opportunities. In NSW, the RAF is administered by Regional Arts NSW. Funding is available for projects commencing after 1 January 2012 in the categories of New Initiatives, Partnerships and Residencies and Mentorships. Information packs including instructions, guidelines and application forms for the Regional Arts Fund are available and can be downloaded from the Regional Arts NSW website.

Snapshot Teenage Photographic Competition
Snap Shot is an annual, open photographic competition for teenagers (13yrs - 19yrs), produced and presented by Penrith Regional Gallery & The Lewers Bequest. The primary aim of the exhibition is to encourage youth participation in the arts. Thus, the project via digital photography (including cameras, mobile phones and social network posting/distribution) provides an authentic forum for youth cultural expression and experimentation. Works will be showcased in an exhibition from 10 September - 30 October this year. Prize money is on offer and the competition is open to young people nationally.

The Albury Art Prize for 2012 is now open. It is one of New South Wales' oldest municipal art awards, awarded to a substantial number of renowned artists through its 64-year history. Entries are accepted from artists nationally working in any visual medium. In 2012, the prize offers a $20,000 residency. The winner of the prize will be announced on January 27 2012 at the opening of the exhibition of short-listed entrants.

But Wait There's More...

Start dusting off those scripts and rolling the cameras, it’s happening again. Glen Innes Arts Council is proud to present “Don’t Waste the Popcorn!” New England Short Film Festival 2011.  The film festival will be held on the 4th, 5th, and 6th November 2011 at the Chapel Theatre in Glen Innes, with the short films being screened on their new state of the art Dolby 3D Digital Cinema System with 7.1 Dolby Surround Sound.  Most films will still be screened in standard 2D format, however 3D entries can be accepted.  Entries will be accepted in the following categories:- Comedy, Drama, Animation, Music video, and Documentary, with prizes awarded for Best Film in each category, Best Youth Film, Best New England Film, Best Technical Film, Audience Choice, Encouragement Award, and of course, Best Film 2011.  Again, the maximum length of entries accepted will be 10 minutes.
