Australian Poetry Slam
The Australian Poetry Slam is conducting two of its NSW heats in Forbes and Wagga Wagga. Performers have 2 minutes in the spotlight to scream, howl, yell, sing, even whisper their Stories, Lyrics And Monologues to audiences. Two finalists from each state and territory will compete for $500 and a trip to Sydney to battle their words on the main stage of the Sydney Theatre for the National Finals.
The Wagga Wagga heat will be held 7pm Friday 16 September 2011 at the Home Tavern Hotel, 142 Fitzmaurice Street.

Ashfield Council Artist in Residence Program

The Ashfield Artist in Residence program is calling for expressions of interest from Australian rural and regional artists. The residency would suits artists who have experience in Community Cultural Development and can assist the community to express aspirations through the arts.  All disciplines are welcome including visual and performing arts, writers, musicians, craft, design and film.  Each program is developed in consultation with the artist and may include workshops, artist talks, performances, open studios or exhibitions.

Regional NSW music residency for musicians with disability
Are you a musician that works collaboratively? Are you interested in broadening your compositional skills? Are you looking to take your music to another level?  Applications for Rewriting the Score are invited from professional musicians who experience disability, practicing in all genres from across Australia.  Rewriting the Score will run from Sunday 20 November to Sunday 27 November 2011. Thirteen musicians will work together to create new music, led by Artistic Director Graham Sattler. The residency will culminate in two concert performances at the Orange Regional Conservatorium on Friday 25 and Saturday 27 November 2011.

The 48 Hour Film Project
Participating teams will be given a genre, a character, a prop and a line of dialogue that they must work into their film.  Teams are responsible for putting together a cast and crew as well as securing equipment, locations and costumes. Then you only have 48 hours to produce and hand in, or upload a 4-7 minute film by 7pm, 25 September 2011. Public screening will be held on Sunday, 9 October 2011 at Riverside Theatres in Parramatta. First prize $8,000 and a trip to USA to screen your film at the international championships held in March 2012 at Taos Short Film Festival, New Mexico. Then the 14 best films from the championships will be shown at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival – Short Film Corner.

Besen Family Foundation Arts and Culture Grants
Grants of up to $10,000 will be given for Arts and Culture projects for not-for-profit organisations throughout Australia.  The foundation will support projects both in Performing and Visual Arts. Preference will be given to projects that are innovative and challenging.  Individuals wishing to make an application for a grant from the foundation are required to make submissions in partnership with a not-for-profit organisation. The organisation will then recommend the project to the foundation.  Funding is available, in addition to the types of grants listed under general support, for acquisitions, catalogues, commissions, exhibitions, publications and symposia.

Understanding Boundaries Workshop

Albury Art Prize
The Albury Art Prize for 2012 is now open. It is one of New South Wales' oldest municipal art awards, awarded to a substantial number of renowned artists through its 64-year history. Entries are accepted from artists nationally working in any visual medium. In 2012, the prize offers a $20,000 residency. The winner of the prize will be announced on January 27 2012 at the opening of the exhibition of short-listed entrants.

Quick Response project funding is available for professional individuals, groups and small-to medium-sized organisations who have received an unexpected invitation to participate in a recognised national or international arts and cultural event / activity. WetlandCare Australia 5th annual National Art and Photography Competition

Australia Council for the Arts Grants – Artstart

The ArtStart program provides financial assistance to recent creative arts graduates who are committed to establishing a career as a professional artist. Graduates who plan to earn an income, start a small arts business or gain employment as a professional artist in the visual arts, hybrid and media arts, performing arts, literature or as a community cultural development artist may apply.  Grants of up to $10,000 are provided to fund business and career strategies which include services, resources, skills development and equipment that help graduate artists to build an income-generating career in the arts practice they have studied.
