Dear Subscriber,
We hope that all our valued members and friends of South West Arts have had a wonderful Christmas and a safe new year. In 2011 there are a lot of projects planned for our region and hopefully you will be able to enjoy and participate in many of them. There will be a Filmmakers in Residence for Moulamein and Conargo, a strategic industry development of ‘Growing Our Place – Public Art Initiative’, and the creation and presentation of the ‘The Moccasin Trail’ in Hay just to name a few.
South West Arts has a 5 minute promotional film clip of the 2010 Millinery workshop series with Waltruad Reiner. It highlights the rural women, their fabulous hats and their stories. Following on from this will be a longer documentary version which we will tour around the region in 2011.
Please note that the South West Arts office in Deniliquin will be closed from Monday 20 December 2010 and will reopen Monday 31 January 2011. Claire Parks receives a Quick Response Grant
Deniliquin Photographer Claire Parks received a Quick Response Grant from Regional Arts NSW to attend a Creative Wedding Photography Workshop in Echuca recently. The Regional Arts Fund is an Australian Government initiative supporting the arts in regional, remote and very remote / isolated Australia. The Quick Response Grants program is a small grants program for regional artists, arts organisations and communities to respond to unique arts opportunities that present themselves at very short notice. This was a unique arts opportunity, as not many short workshops are offered in the local region, especially on wedding photography.
