But Wait There's More...

Clubs ask Community Groups to put up their hands for funding

Barooga Sporties and the Tocumwal Golf Club are lending their support to a wide range of community projects, ranging from welfare to employment services. This boost comes through a club industry program called the Community Development & Support Expenditure (CDSE) scheme.  The next round of funding closes on 21st July 2010.

The CDSE scheme is a shared State Government-Club Industry program, funded by a 1.5% gaming machine tax rebate which is provided by the State Government to those registered clubs with gaming machine profits in excess of $1 million per annum.  The CDSE scheme allows clubs to apply this rebate to specific community projects.  The scheme is co-ordinated with the assistance of the Berrigan Shire Council.

At least 50% of funding from each club is to be allocated to Category 1 purposes, with the remainder allocated to category 2 purposes.

To qualify for Category 1 funding, the project must fall within the following areas:
community welfare and social services,
community development,
community health services, or
employment assistance activities.

Funding for other community development and support services are generally considered as Category 2 applications and can be referred directly to registered clubs.

Community groups interested in finding out more can contact Susie Escott at Berrigan Shire Council on 03 5888 5100, email mail@berriganshire.nsw.gov.au or visit the websites of the club industry association, ClubsNSW, at www.clubsnsw.com.au or Berrigan Shire Council, at www.berriganshire.nsw.gov.au
