The Riverina First Community Fund
The Riverina First Community Fund is a philanthropic fund used to improve social, cultural and community services and facilities in Riverina communities. Grant categories of up to $2000 for individual projects and $5000 for larger projects involving multiple communities. Applications must be lodged by 4pm Wednesday 30 June 2010. The Myer Foundation | Small Grants
The Sidney Myer Fund seeks to play a critical role in upholding the integrity of the arts community within Australia. The priority areas for the Small Grants Program are: to build capacity of the individual through ensuring professional artists gain access to training, development and mentoring; to develop new works by individual Australian artists and small to medium-sized organisations in Indigenous arts, regional areas, and experimental and emerging art forms; and to support projects that contribute to a broad understanding of and engagement with the Humanities. Festivals Australia
Please note Festivals Australia operates as a two-tier program with different
application forms for small projects and large projects.
Small projects are those seeking funding support of up to $12 000.
Large projects are those seeking funding above $12 000.
Purpose: To provide funds for Australian regional and community festivals to assist them to present quality cultural projects.
Overview: Funds are available to present exciting new projects which will add to the cultural program of a regular, ongoing festival or a significant one-off community celebration. Funds are not available for projects such as competitions, capital works (e.g. the construction of buildings, or the purchase of equipment) or the ongoing costs of running the festival.
Assistance is provided in the form of direct funding, subject to a formal Funding Agreement. You cannot receive funding from Festivals Australia, the Regional Arts Fund or the Indigenous Cultural Support Program for the same project or the same event at a festival. Applications must be made by organisations that manage regular festivals. Eligible organisations include local governments and councils, cultural organisations and regional arts councils that manage festivals.

CIWEM’s Environmental Photographer of the Year 2010
This is a serious competition that seeks to celebrate photographers who use their ability to raise awareness of environmental and social issues. It is open to all professional and amateur international photographers of any ages and encourages entries that are contemporary, creative, experimental, resonant, original and beautiful.

CIWEM’s Young Environmental Photographer of the Year (Under 16 & Under 21)
The judging panel is made up of some of the most respected environmental photographers in the industry, including Gary Braasch, winner of the Ansel Adams Award for Conservation Photography, as well as senior environmentalists. Individual pieces of work will be judged on impact, creativity, composition, originality and technical abilities. Winners receive cash prizes, and all winning and highly commended entries are displayed in the international Environmental Photographer of the Year exhibitions. This year, particular recognition was given to CIWEM’s Young Environmental Photographer of the Year 2009 by Prime Minister Gordon Brown who selected Jordan Mary, 19, to take Number 10’s official Christmas card. www.ciwem.org/arts/photographer

Applications open for Regional Arts Fund 2011
Applications are now being accepted for the Regional Arts Fund (NSW), one of the key funding sources for arts and cultural activities in regional, rural and remote communities of NSW. The Regional Arts Fund (RAF) is an initiative of the Australian Government supporting arts and cultural activities that have long term cultural, economic and social benefits, promote partnerships and cultural networks, and provide skills development opportunities. In NSW, RAF is administered by Regional Arts NSW. “We received a record number of applications for the 2010 funding round which demonstrated the importance of this program for regional arts organisations,” said Elizabeth Rogers, CEO of Regional Arts NSW. “A total amount of $271,600 was approved for a wide range of projects that will leave long term benefits in Regional NSW." Funding is available for one or two year projects commencing after 1 January 2011 in the categories of 'New Initiatives', 'Partnerships' and 'Residencies and Mentorships'. Deni’s Famous ‘Ute on the Pole’ to be named

The ‘Ute on the Pole’ needs a name so the Ute Muster and Deni Council have teamed up with VACC to hold a competition to find the perfect name for the iconic ute. You can enter as many times as you like, the winner will be announced in late September, prior to the event. There is also a chance to win some great prizes including a pair of adult Deni Ute Muster tickets, a helicopter ride for two, Deni Ute Muster merchandise and a backstage meet and greet for two with some of the Muster’s great artists. Shaula Salathé is one of Australia’s leading singer-harpists. Her golden voice (Phantom of the Opera) teamed with her extraordinary musical talent (concert pianist, composer, arranger) reaches an ethereal level when teamed with the glorious sounds of the ancient Celtic harp. Shaula will be performing at the Deniliquin Town Hall 25 June 8pm. Bishop’s Lodge, Hay 26 June 2pm. Rivadesta, Darlington Point 27 June 12.30pm.
