A Day in the Life of Deniliquin
Do
you want to help create history? Kate and Nina are seeking keen photographers to
take photos on Wednesday 9th March to help document our lives and our
community.
A Day in the Life of Deniliquin is a documentary photographic project
that occurs every ten years in the Deniliquin region. The next
anniversary is 9 March 2011, the third time that it has occurred. Local
community members document their lives and community with photography
over a 24 hour period.
You can photograph people, places, events, businesses, landscapes,
buildings, your home, the bus trip to school, even what you had for
breakfast! Have a look at some of the photos taken in 1991 and 2001 if
you need inspiration and think about what might be of interest 20 or 50
years from now.
For more information please contact Kate Butler 0422 604 711 and Nina O'Brien-Hehir 0422604667

This display celebrates the Mitchell Library’s first century. The Mitchell Library opened on 9th March 1910, and for the first time, it was possible to research the history of Australia and the Pacific through access to the original records. David Scott Mitchell’s 1907 bequest of books, manuscripts, maps and pictures, the most comprehensive collection of its type in the world, provided Australia, in one fell swoop, with its first major research library. No other act of philanthropy in Australia has performed such a cultural coup. The travelling exhibition features 25 items illustrated on the display panels, which were chosen because they each tell a remarkable story about an aspect of Australian or Pacific life and show the range and depth of the Mitchell Library’s holdings.
