  October 2010
Dear Subscriber,

With the weather warming up and the trees blossoming, take the time to get your cameras out and take a few award winning photographs to enter in the Moulamein Amateur Photograph Competition.

The Moulamein Art Group is again holding its Annual Amateur Photography Competition as part of the Moulamein Old World Collectables Fair in October this year, beginning with the Presentation of Awards at the Gala Opening Night on Friday 8th October at the Moulamein Gallery at 6pm.  This photography competition (the total prize purse is $1200), is a fantastic opportunity for amateur photographers to show off their favourite snapshots, especially those that illustrate the essence of our local country lifestyle. Entry forms are available from the Gallery or contact Jane Taylor on 03-5887 5060, email tails13@bigpond.com or Kerri Redfearn on 03 58873273, email redfearn@activ8.net.au. The exhibition will be displayed at the Gallery (for three weeks), during the afternoon of the Old World Collectables Fair on Saturday 9 October, and thereafter every Thursday and Friday from 10am to 4pm.

If entertainment is high on your list make sure you go along to one of Mal Webb’s performances.   Mal is a vocal adventurer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Melbourne.  His ballads will have you laughing and you will be amazed at what instruments he plays.

And lastly the Millinery Workshops with Waltraud Reiner have been hugely successful with most venues booked out.  So if you are quick there are still places available in Coleambally 11 & 12 October.

r milliner Waltraud Reiner, who has an international reputation as both a designer and tutor, returned to the south west region to host millinery workshops.  Participants enjoyed the opportunity to create a hat and expand their skills in hat making.   South West Arts received funding from the Sidney Myer Fund through their Arts and Humanities Small Grants Program to deliver the workshop series.  The workshops have been booked out at nearly all of the venues.  Alyce is pictured with her fellow millinery students in Balranald.

From the 25th till the 29th of August 2010 the Regional Arts Australia conference took over Launceston. The city was alive with street art, live performance and hundreds of arts workers roaming the streets. Among these arts workers were Alyce Fisher, Debbie Wills and Catherine Stewart from the South West of NSW. The conference kept them very busy but they did make time to attend several exhibitions and par take in many of the extra activities on offer. All in all a fabulous conference which has given the girls a lot of food for thought.
