August is shaping up to be a musical month with a country stampede in Barham and a country festival in Echuca.  Dance tunes and songs from the 15th - 17th century performed by the Swan Hill Broken Consort and the classical tale of Die Winterreise – A Winter’s Journey which will be performed in Deniliquin.  The south west has music to be enjoyed by all.

Meet artist Daniel V. Anderson from New York

Daniel V. Anderson is visiting Australia and wants to see the Riverina country and its artists.   He will be giving an artist talk in Deniliquin at the Multi Arts Centre Thursday 4 August – 12.30pm and the Function Room Campaspe Shire Echuca Friday 5 August – 2.30pm.  Daniel studied in Florence, Italy and has exhibited in numerous NYC galleries, London, & Washington, D.C.  To see his paintings inspired by motion and energy, visit his website www.dvande.com

People make places – Deniliquin My Town – Volunteer Call Out


Are you an artist, curator, photographer, art student, arts worker, art teacher, art enthusiast or an art lover living in or near Deni?  Over the coming months an international contemporary art project People Make Places, is being created in Deni. This project is capturing the identity of diverse rural, remote, and urban regions across the world through the eyes of locals in each area.  A series of photographic and mixed media projects of Deniliquin will be created as part of this project. Alyce officially opens the Threads of Friendship Quilt Show

RADO Alyce Fisher opened the Threads of Friendship Quilt Show on Friday 8 July at the Deniliquin High School Multipurpose Hall.  The Deniquilters celebrated 25 years of quilting in Deniliquin region.  “The quilts were amazing, the workmanship was extremely high and the designs were astounding” comments Alyce Fisher.

'About Time' is an exhibition surveying the development of Australian studio tapestry from 1975 to 2005. The Swan Hill Broken Consort plays a range of dance tunes and popular songs from the 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries.  This program will bend these boundaries. Echuca Workers & Services Club Country Music Festival 2011

A fabulous line up of first class entertainment will be on show during the 2011 Echuca Workers and Services Club Country Music Festival.   In the Auditorium on Friday will be the Craig Giles Dance Party with guests, 7.30pm – 10.30pm, entry is $8.00. Then on Saturday and Sunday all the action is free admission, with live entertainment from 11.00am to 11.00pm on Saturday and from 10.30am to 5.30pm on Sunday.

Concert - Die Winterreise

Die Winterreise – A Winter’s Journey.  A Song Cycle by Franz Schubert.  Performed by Graham Sattler (baritone) and Hamish Tait (piano).  Schubert’s Die Winterreise is considered to be one of the most significant works in the classical vocal literature. Based on the poetry of Wilhelm Muller, the 24 songs in the cycle trace the decline in the poet’s state of mind as he grapples with the loss of his love to another and steals away to reconcile himself with his own mortality and loneliness.  A classical tale, taking audiences on a winter’s journey of their own.

Felted Wool & Silk Scarf Workshop

Pride and Prejudice the Musical
