Exhibition - The Knitted Garden Touring
The Knitted Garden has been touring the region recently with Deniliquin, Balranald and Darlington Point still to exhibit. Above are photographs of recent exhibitions in Berrigan, Hay and Hillston. Try and make one of the exhibitions, the knitting is amazing!
Performance Piano Trio Wine & Olives in Deniliquin
South West Music in partnership with South West Arts received Arts NSW funding through the Regional Conservatorium Association, to hold a series of concerts in 2011 titled ‘The Bush Concert Project’. Piano Trio Wine & Olives were the second concert to perform in Hay, Mathoura, Deniliquin and Conargo. Chris Patrick with his Cello and Lucy Bignall with her Violin from Brisbane and Riverina pianist Delena Gaffney enchanted their audiences with classical, tango and contemporary music.
Conargo Mother’s Day
A day was enjoyed by all at the famous Conargo Mother’s Day market. With food galore, handcrafted goodies, activities and entertainment plus! The theme of this year’s event was gardening and they had two entertainment highlights based on this theme - the Griffith Knitted Garden and Tall Poppies Roaming Entertainment. Pictured are the Tall Poppies Roaming, which delighted all that attended.

Sunday 26 June 2011 - Golden Rivers Theatre, Barham
A fiery flamenco-tango-jazz ensemble, The Saruzu Quartet’s interpretations of the rich harmonies of Argentine tango, the wild improvisations of gypsy jazz and the fire and grace of flamenco, are exhilarating. Evocative of a 1920’s Paris cafe scene filtered through an edgy and contemporary sensibility, The Saruzu Quartet is a celebration of the musical passions of its members - sensual flamenco dancer & fiery percussionist Simone Pope, ferociously cool jazz bass player Andrew Shaw, laid back guitar virtuoso Andrew Veivers and renowned violinist Shenton Gregory.

A lost Indigenous art form will be re-discovered when rare surviving photographs of traditional carved trees in western NSW go on public display for the first time in Australia at the State Library of NSW. Created by male artists using mostly stone tools, the carvings also marked the sites where boys were initiated into manhood.

Arts & Disability Supported Studio- Planning & Funding Discussion
When
Thursday 2 June 2011 11.00am - 12.00pm
Where
Meeting Room A, Neighbourhood Centre, Intereach, Deniliquin
South West Arts seeks to partner with local disability support services, arts organisations, community organisations and local artists to create a sustainable Supported Studio in Deniliquin. Our vision is to create a safe, fun, enjoyable environment in which individuals with different abilities can come to learn and expand on their artistic talents. We would like to create a supported studio which operates 2 days per week during school terms and offers a variety of skill development across a variety of artistic mediums. These mediums would include, but not be limited to, Visual Arts, Multi – Media, Music & Drama. There will be a Pilot Project – Creating New Horizon’s in the South West. Yallambee Inc received funding from the Country Arts Support Program this year to engage local artist, Debbie Wills, to conduct a 6 week visual arts program with their clients in Finley & Deniliquin. The program culminates in an exhibition which will open on the International Day of Disability 2011.
