Congratulations to Deniliquin Artist Stuart Taylor winner of the Spirit of the Land Lockhart Sculpture

The Spirit of the Land Festival Lockhart grew out of the worst drought in Australian history and it took shape to encourage farmers determined to survive living and working on the land to use country ingenuity and create sculptures using old farm machinery, recycled scrap metal and elements of the land.  Check out Stuart’s ‘Horsepower’ on South West Arts home page.

Anita Hall - a finalist in the Essential Energy Competition

Congratulations to Deniliquin artist Anita Hall on being shortlisted as a finalist for the Essential Energy Countryscapes competition. Anita's artwork, entitled 'Enduring' is a landscape painting of a Moreton Bay fig tree from the Waring Gardens.  The winner will be announced November 24, we wish you luck Anita.

Wonderful Wamba Wamba / Perrepa Perrepa Week
The week included the flag raising and community breakfast at Civic Place Deniliquin, a sports and cultural exhibition, the launch of the Yarkuwa and Nyerna Websites, weaving workshops, community lunches, guest speakers, kids disco, screening of ‘Here I am’ and a Koorioke night.  The local community participated in the many events and enjoyed learning more about indigenous life.  And for the people who weren't lucky enough to catch the awesome flash mob, catch it on our facebook page.
