News and Events
October 2009
Dear Subscriber,

Spring has definitely sprung as October is jam packed with arts and cultural events across the South West region. There are multiple events on each weekend and your hardest decision will be which one to choose – this weekend alone there is the Deniliquin Ute Muster, the Rankin Springs Birds of the Bush Festival, the North of the Border Art Trail and the Moama Old Telegraph Station 150 Years Celebration. Listed below is just a token of what’s on, to see it all, visit our Events Calendar.

Keep an eye out for Fund It!, our monthly funding e-bulletin that will arrive in your inbox mid-month. It lists some highlights from our online Funding Database, an excellent resource for artists and community organisations.

The next News and Events you receive will be from the new South West Arts RADO, Alyce Fisher. I hope you will make yourselves known to Alyce and I happily hand over to her, wishing her all the best in her new job.

Enjoy your arts.......

The program comprises:
1) A tour to four of the ARTback Sculptors Studios- 3 days/ 2 nights (travel to Castlemaine area and Melbourne). Travel, accommodation and living allowances will be provided.
2) A one day bus tour with the ARTback Sculptors to four of the sculptural installations on The Long Paddock (Mathoura, Deniliquin, The Black Swamp & Hay)

"Hats Off to Farming Women" a huge success
Milliner Waltraud Reiner visited the communities of Goolgowi, Hay, Conargo and Finley to show 40 local women how to make fabulous headpieces. Bookings for the workshops filled fast and there were waiting lists for several sessions. Some fantastic creations were made and feedback was resoundingly positive with requests for more workshops please! Liz Mecham from Conargo said "And Waltraud was just the best bit! She really took a group which was quite diverse (some just wanted a sun hat, others were heading to the Melbourne Cup and another had already done a millinery workshop and some pleaded complete creative ignorance) and created some amazing pieces."

South West Arts postal address has changed
The South West Arts postal address has changed to: PO Box 378, Deniliquin NSW 2710. This is due to our finances now being processed through the Deniliquin Office. South West Arts still has an office in Hay for project activity but all mail is to be directed to the Deniliquin Office, so please adjust your contact database.
