Buxton Poetry Competition
& the Sheffield Poetry Festival
Dear poets and readers,
A few reminders...
The deadline for the Buxton Poetry Competition is this Friday (1st April). Ann and Peter Sansom are judging it again this year, and poems are invited on the subject of 'fire'. (Download full details and an entry form here.)
The Sheffield Poetry Festival also officially starts on Friday. The first event is in the Showroom, starting at 8pm, and is a reading by three Smith/Doorstop poets: Simon Armitage, Nell Farrell and Ed Reiss. (Ed will be launching his first full-length collection at the event.)
The Leeds Salon panel discussion with Michael Schmidt and George Szirtes, 'Poetry and the Tyranny of Relevance', will be held at Bank Street Arts next Monday (the 4th). Find full details on the Leeds Salon website here. (This event is sponsored by The Poetry Business.)
The Poetry Library is hosting the event, 25 Years of Smith/Doorstop Books, on Wednesday 6th April. Gerard Benson, Yvonne Green, Michael Laskey, Allison McVety and Catherine Smith will be reading. Admission is free, but reserve a place to avoid disappointment (email specialedition@poetrylibrary.org.uk). The event starts at 8pm and will be held in The Poetry Library, the Southbank Centre, Belvedere Road, London SE1.
All best wishes
