Writing Day on Saturday

Dear poets,

The October Writing Day will be held this weekend, on Saturday 23 October. As usual, the morning session will be in the conference room of the Premier Inn on the corner of Angel Street and Bank Street, starting at 10:15am. In the afternoon, half the group will move to our premises in Bank Street Arts. We will finish at 4pm.

It's not essential, but would be helpful if you could let us know if you're planning to attend.

And another date for your diary: on Sunday (the 24th), Yvonne Green, Allison McVety and John McAuliffe will be reading at the Showroom Cinema as part of the Off the Shelf Festival.

Yvonne Green’s first full length collection, The Assay, is just published. “Her excellent poems show how different cultures can blend” Alan Sillitoe.

Allison McVety’s vivid new collection, Miming Happiness, includes poems shortlisted for the MMU Poetry Prize and commissioned by Radio 3.

John McAuliffe has published two books, A Better Life and Next Door and his poetry has been described as ‘moving and deceptively astute’ by The Irish Times. He was director of Ireland’s biggest poetry festival.

The reading starts at 7:30pm and tickets are £6 (£4 concs). Book online here.
