PROPERLY SIZING WET DUST COLLECTORS
• What is the processing equipment the wet collector will be attached to

• Size, dimensions and relevant specifications of the processing equipment
• Distance between the processing equipment and wet collector
• Length and diameter of the duct
• Number of 90 degree elbows
• If exhausting the collector; length, diameter and number of 90 degree elbows used for the exhaust
• Material being processed

"NFPA & OSHA APPROVED"
NO SUCH APPROVAL EXISTS
NFPA and OSHA do not 'certify' or 'approve' equipment.  In 2008, OSHA issued the Combustible Dust Emphasis Program.  However, OSHA has not written regulations (only guidelines) pertaining to combustible dust.  NFPA 484 the Standard For Combustible Metals is also a set of guidelines.
Our optional electrical packages are OSHA & NFPA  compliant .

COMMON COMBUSTIBLE METALS
ALUMINUM
MAGNESIUM
ZIRCONIUM
TITANIUM
NFPA 484 states; Operations where metal or metal alloys are subjected to processing or finishing operations that produce combustible powder or dust shall include, but shall not be limited to, machining, sawing, grinding, buffing and polishing.

DON’T FORGET ABOUT ABRASIVE BLASTING
Abrasive blasting is a process that produces dust. Depending on the material being blasted and the media used, the dust generated could be combustible.   For instance, if the part being blasted is aluminum and the media used is cast steel shot you have a mixed metals dust which is highly combustible.  Consult the factory to make ensure a wet collector is appropriate for your particular blasting application.

COTTON BUFFING / POLISHING WHEELS AND WET DUST COLLECTORS
NOT A HAPPY MARRIAGE
When using cotton buffing wheels to polish aluminum, an excessive amount of lint can be produced. This excessive amount of lint can lead to the following conditions; floating material and or excessive buildup of material which displaces water volume. This excess floating lint can get tangled in the system reducing the effectiveness of the collector and possibly ruin the blower impeller. Please consult us prior to quoting a wet dust collector for this type of application.
