森円花さんニューヨークへ！ 
Madoka Mori in New York!      

 

森円花さん（ACC 2023）が、ニューヨークにて約４ヶ月のフェローシップを開始しました。森さは、西洋のクラシック音楽から発展したコンテンポラリーミュージックに、自身のルーツである日本の精神を織り込み、新たなコンテンポラリーミュージックを創造しています。また、クラシック音楽の可能性を広げるため、ビジュアルアート、彫刻、舞踏、演劇、日本の伝統芸術といった他ジャンルとのコラボレーションにも積極的に取り組み、企画を制作しています。今回の滞在を通して、異文化交流による新しい作曲語法の発見とともに、多様な分野の芸術家とのネットワーク構築やコンテンポラリーミュージックとの革新的なコラボレーション、あらゆる境界を越えた協働の場の創造を目指します。

 

Madoka Mori (ACC 2023) started her 4-month fellowship in New York. She has created new contemporary music, interweaving contemporary music, having its roots in western classical music, with the spirits of Japan where her roots are from. She is also eager to collaborate and produce projects with different genres of arts including visual art, sculpture, dance and traditional Japanese arts to expand the possibility of classical music. Through her fellowship, Mori aims to discover a new language for her composition by absorbing different cultures, build an international network of artists from various genres of arts and seek the possibility for innovative collaboration between diverse arts and contemporary music.

森円花 
桐朋学園にて三瀬和朗氏に師事。20歳で第83回日本音楽コンクール（管弦楽）2位受賞。受賞作品を機に一柳慧に発掘され、一柳慧コンテンポラリー賞を史上最年少で受賞。代表作としてサントリーホール委嘱作品「二重協奏曲ヤーヌス」、本條秀慈郎委嘱作品邦楽器のための「三番叟」や中国の伝統楽器二胡のための「モノローグ」など。神奈川芸術財団企画にて俳優の白井晃氏と音楽と映像の融合作品を制作、彫刻家小清水漸氏と東京画廊＋BTAPにてコラボレーションするなど活動は多岐にわたる。著作権の多様化のためMORIMUSICOFFICEを設立。2017年～2022年桐朋学園非常勤講師。 

 

Madoka Mori

Graduated from Toho Gakuen School of Music. Won the second prize of the 83rd Music Competition of Japan at the age of 20. This composition led to the discovery by Toshi Ichiyanagi and to the award the Toshi Ichiyanagi Contemporary Prize as the youngest recipient in history. The most notable works include Double Concerto JANUS commissioned by Suntory Hall,  SANBASOU , a work for traditional Japanese instruments (commissioned by Hidejiro Honjo) and MONOLOGUE for Chinese instrument Erhu. Other activities include a projection mapping concert with choreographer, Akira Shirai (Kanagawa Arts Foundation Project), and the exhibition with sculptor, Susumu Koshimizu at Tokyo Gallery + BTAP. Established MORIMUSICOFFICE in 2020 to diversify copyright management. Lecturer at Toho Gakuen from 2017 to 2022.

Jia Li in Japan!        

   

北京を拠点にキュレーター、ライター、研究者として活動するジア・リさんは、これまで中国の近年のフェミニストアートの動向を紹介した「Genders Engender」展、都市空間へのアートの介入をテーマとした「Other Lives of the Alternative Spaces」展、生態学的、空間的正義を扱った「A Geography of Resistance」展などを手掛けました。近年は、ソーシャリー・エンゲイジド・アート、アートにおけるアクティヴィスム、倫理、美学、社会正義の交差、空間の政治学、現代のアナキズム、社会運動等をテーマとするキュレーション、リサーチを行っています。今回の約3ヶ月の滞在では、日本の1990年代以降のソーシャリー・エンゲイジド・アートや地域アートプロジェクトの理論と実践を調査研究し、日中間の将来的なコラボーレーションや国際間プロジェクトを視野に、アーティストやキュレーター、美術評論家、専門家らとの対話を予定しています。

 

Jia Li is a curator, writer and researcher based in Beijing and has curated Genders Engender, an exhibition highlighting the changes and emerging trends in the feminist art practice in China over the last decade, Other Lives of the Alternative Spaces, which focused on the artistic intervention in urban space and A Geography of Resistance, addressing the topic of ecological and spatial justice. Her recent curatorial and research interests include socially engaged practice and activism in art, the intersection of ethics, aesthetics and social justice, the politics of space, the contemporary anarchism and social movements. During her 3-month fellowship, Li plans to conduct research on the theory and practice of social engagement art in Japan since 1990s, interview and visit artists, curators, art professionals and institutions to seek the possibilities of collaborations between China and Japan and international projects in the future.

北京を拠点とするインディペンデント・キュレーター、ライター、研究者。
2015年から2020年まで、北京の泰康空間（Taikang Space）にてシニアキュレーター、2012年から2015年まで、ペースギャラリー北京にてアソシエイトディレクターを務める。Artforum Online, LEAP and Randianに定期的に寄稿。美術評論、エッセイ、研究報告等を多数発表している。2017年、第1回ヒュンダイ・ブルー賞（中国で活躍する若手キュレーターを表彰）受賞。2019年、国際交流基金による「日中キュレーター交流 シンポジウム」に招聘され登壇。

 

Jia Li

Independent curator, writer and researcher based in Beijing.
Li was a Senior Curator at Taikang Space in Beijing from 2015 to 2020 and served as the Associate Director at Pace Gallery Beijing from 2012 to 2015. She is a regular contributor for Artforum Online, LEAP and Randian and has published a number of articles varying from art reviews, essays and surveys. In 2017, Li received the first Hyundai Blue Prize, a fellowship aiming to prize young curators in China Mainland. She was invited by the Japan Foundation for “Japan-China Curator Exchange Program Symposium” in 2019.

Greeting from ACC Japan’s Program Officer: Yuko Suzuki

 

ACC日本財団のグラント・プログラム運営を担うことになりました鈴木祐子と申します。コロンビア大学バーナード・カレッジを卒業し、7年間を過ごしたニューヨークから帰国して国際美術展やパブリック・アートのコーディネーターを務めた後、ヨコハマトリエンナーレ（2014年、2020年）にコーディネーション統括及びレジストラーとして携わりました。2015〜2018年には、トーキョーアーツアンドスペース（旧トーキョーワンダーサイト）のアーティスト・イン・レジデンスにてマネージャーを務め、国内外の多くのアーティストのリサーチや制作のプロセスに立ち会う機会を得ました。この度ACCにて、現代の課題に取り組むアーティストや研究者、専門家の皆様、また国際文化交流を支える方たちと仕事ができることに大きな喜びを感じています。どうぞよろしくお願い申し上げます。

 

It is my great pleasure to join Asian Cultural Council Japan and manage its grant programs. After graduating from Barnard College, Columbia University in New York, where I lived for 7 years, I worked as a coordinator for a number of international art exhibitions and public art projects in Japan, and was involved in Yokohama Triennale (2014 and 2020) as a head of coordination and registrar. From 2015 to 2018, I served as a manager of Tokyo Arts and Space (formerly Tokyo Wonder Site) artist-in-residence program, having the opportunity to witness the research and production process of many artists at home and from around the world. I am thrilled to assume the position at ACC Japan and work with artists and arts professionals who address important issues in the world today and people who are committed to support international cultural exchange.
