OFFICE ALB started fieldwork in the Philippines!

 

オフィスアルブ（ACC 2023）が、フィリピンにてフィールドワークを開始しました。2023年に始動した、アジアの国々との新たな国際共同制作プロジェクト「Xstream Project」の一環として、アジア各地で伝承される祈りの行為と芸能、生活文化について、現代の視点からその土地土地に伝承されるアニミズム、シャーマニズムに焦点を当て、現地アーティストや専門家とのリサーチ、交流活動を行っています。このフィールドワークを土台とした国際協働による舞台作品の創作、発表を通し、多文化共生社会への関心や思考を促進すること目指しています。

 

Office ALB (ACC 2023) has started fieldwork in the Philippines as part of the “Xstream Project,” an international co-production project with Asian countries launched in 2023. They are conducting research and engaging in exchange activities with local artists and experts on prayer practices, performing arts, and lifestyle culture handed down in various regions across Asia from a contemporary perspective, with the focus on animism and shamanism. Based on this fieldwork, they aim to create and present stage productions through international collaboration and foster interest and reflection on multicultural coexistence societies.

2010年、振付家・ダンサーの北村明子（ACC2003、2015）を中心として設立（旧名称：Office A/LB）、2017年に法人化。日本と世界各国のアーティストによる分野横断的な国際協働制作プロジェクトの企画・制作を多数手掛ける。主な実績として、アジアのアーティストとの国際共同制作プロジェクト「To Belong project」(2011年～2014年)、「Cross Transit project」(2015年～2019年)、日本とアイルランド〜中央アジアを横断する国際共同制作「Echoes of Calling」（2022年～現在）など。創造活動の核を担う北村明子は、「日本インターネット演劇賞最優秀パフォーマンス賞」（1998年）、「Dance of the Year by The Independent Weekly in North Carolina in 2003」、「Le top dix danse de l’année 2005 de Dfdanse：Dfdanse le magazine de la danse actuelle à Montréal」、「日本ダンスフォーラム賞受賞」（2012・2018年）など受賞歴多数。

 

Office ALB

Founded in 2010 (formerly known as Office A/LB) by choreographer and dancer Akiko Kitamura (ACC2003, 2015) and was incorporated in 2017. It has organized and produced many international collaborative production projects involving Japanese artists and artists from around the world. Major achievements include "To Belong project" (2011-2014), an international co-production project with Asian artists, and "Cross Transit project" (2015-2019). Akiko Kitamura, who plays a core role in the creative activities, won "Japan Internet Theater Award for Best Performance" (1998) and "Dance of the Year by The Independent Weekly in North Carolina in 2003. She has received numerous awards including "Le top dix danse de l'année 2005 de Dfdanse: Dfdanse le magazine de la danse actuelle à Montréal" and "Japan Dance Forum Award" (2012 and 2018).

やんツーさんニューヨークへ！ 
yang02 in New York!

 

やんツーさん（ACC 2023）が、ニューヨークにて６ヶ月のフェローシップを開始しました。活動の初期からテクノロジーを扱い、テクノロジーの合理性やスペクタクル性に隠蔽される政治性、社会性、暴力性などの問題を暴く作品やインスタレーションを制作しています。ニューヨークでは、今日のメディアアートの起源としてのExperiments in Art and Technology（E.A.T.）の活動や思想をリサーチし、結成メンバーのロバート・ラウシェンバーグとビリー・クルーヴァーを中心に、テクノロジーが孕む権威性や政治性、暴力性について、彼らが当時どのように向き合っていたかを調査します。また、現地を拠点に活動する、テクノロジーの問題を扱うアーティストやキュレーター、研究者らと交流し、関連する文化施設を訪問することで、その問題意識を議論、共有するとともに、学際的ネットワークを形成し、今後の研究制作につなげていくことを目指しています。

 

yang02 (ACC 2023) has begun a 6-month fellowship in New York.
He has been creating works using technology since the early stage of his career, aiming to expose the political, social, and violent aspects concealed behind the rationality and spectacle of technology. In New York, he will research the activities and philosophies of Experiments in Art and Technology (E.A.T.) as a cornerstone of today's media art origins, focusing on founding members Robert Rauschenberg and Billy Klüver. He will investigate how they confronted the authority, politics, and violence inherent in technology at the time. Additionally, yang02 will engage with local artists, curators, and researchers based in New York, who address technological issues, visiting relevant cultural institutions to discuss and share awareness of these issues, aiming to form interdisciplinary networks and advance future research and creation.

1984年、神奈川県生まれ。美術家。セグウェイが作品鑑賞する空間や、機械学習システムを用いたドローイングマシンなど、今日的なテクノロジーを導入した既成の動的製品、あるいは既存の情報システムに介入し、転用／誤用する形で組み合わせ構築したインスタレーション作品を制作。先端テクノロジーが持ちうる公共性を考察し、それらがどのような政治性を持ち、社会にどう作用するのか、又は人間そのものとどのような関係にあるかを作品をもって批評する。文化庁メディア芸術祭アート部門にて第15回新人賞（2012）、第21回優秀賞（2018）を受賞（共に菅野創との共作）。2013年、新進芸術家海外研修制度でバルセロナとベルリンに滞在。近年の主な展覧会に、「六本木クロッシング2022展：往来オーライ！」（森美術館、東京、2022）、「遠い誰か、ことのありか」（SCARTS、札幌、2021）、「DOMANI・明日展」（国立新美術館、東京、2018）、「Vanishing Mesh」（山口情報芸術センター［YCAM］、2017）、あいちトリエンナーレ2016（愛知県美術館）など。異分野とのコラボレーションも多数。

Born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1984, yang02 graduated with a master’s degree in Information Design (Media Art) from Tama Art University in 2009. His works show how information technology can substitute human actions in the form of autonomous devices. Through digital media, his practice inquires into human physicality and the independence of one’s actions or expression. His works SENSELESS DRAWING BOT and Avatars, both created in collaboration with So Kanno, were awarded, respectively, the New Face Award at the 15th Japan Media Arts Festival in 2012 and the Excellence Award at the 21st Japan Media Arts Festival in 2018. Recent solo exhibitions include _prayground (2019, rin art association, Gunma) and group exhibitions include 20th DOMANI: The Art of Tomorrow (2018, The National Art Center, Tokyo), Vanishing Mesh (2017, Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media [YCAM]) and Aichi Triennale (2016, Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art).
