熊倉晴子さんインドネシアへ！ 
Haruko KUMAKURA in Indonesia!

熊倉晴子さんがインドネシアにて３ヶ月のフェローシップを行っています。
熊倉さんは近年、東南アジアの美術史と現代アーティストの実践を研究し、戦後さまざまな国のアーティストが草の根的に連帯した事例に着目したリサーチ・プロジェクトを行っています。インドネシアでのフェローシップでは、リサーチ・コレクティブとの協働を通じ、土地固有の歴史や課題に取り組みつつ、独自の国際的連帯を形成してきた現地のアートのエコロジーを調査します。また、現地アーティスト、大学、美術館、オルタナティブスペースなどとの交流を通し、アジアにおけるインディペンデント・キュレーターの可能性や役割について理解を深めると同時に、継続的な連帯とコラボレーションのためのネットワーク構築も目指します。

Haruko Kumakura is undertaking a three-month fellowship in Indonesia. 
In recent years, she has been conducting research on the art history of Southeast Asia and the practices of contemporary artists, with a focus on grassroots solidarity among artists from various countries in the post-war era. During her fellowship, she will investigate the ecology of Indonesian art, which is enhancing its international presence through unique efforts that address local histories and issues while simultaneously building international solidarity. By engaging with local artists, universities, museums, and alternative spaces, she also aims to deepen her understanding of the roles and possibilities of independent curators in Asia and to build a network for ongoing solidarity and collaboration.

熊倉晴子

インディペンデント・キュレーター／ライター。2011年から2024年まで森美術館にてキュレーターを務め、「六本木クロッシング2019展：つないでみる」（2019）、「地球がまわる音を聴く：パンデミック以降のウェルビーイング」（2022）、「ワールド・クラスルーム：現代アートの国語・算数・理科・社会」（2023）などを企画。また「サンシャワー」（2017）や「MAMリサーチ」シリーズを通じて、東南アジアの美術史と今日の実践の両方に着目した調査を重ねてきた。現在は国際的なリサーチ・プロジェクトのほか、国内外の美術展カタログや専門誌への寄稿、教育活動にも携わっている。

Haruko KUMAKURA

Independent curator and writer. From 2011 to 2024, Kumakura served as a curator at the Mori Art Museum, organizing exhibitions including Roppongi Crossing 2019: Connexions (2019), Listen to the Sound of the Earth Turning: Our Wellbeing Since the Pandemic (2022), and World Classroom: Contemporary Art through School Subjects (2023). Through exhibitions and projects such as SUNSHOWER (2017) and the MAM Research series, she conducted research on Southeast Asian contemporary art, focusing on both art history and ongoing practices. She is currently involved in international research projects, contributes to exhibition catalogs and art journals, and engages in educational activities.

ウェン・ポンさん来日!
WEN Peng in Japan! 

ウェン・ポンさんは、空間と植物の関係性を探究するアーティストで、植物の仕組みや生態から着想を得て、絵画、映像、写真、インスタレーションなどを制作しています。今回の日本でのフェローシップでは、東京で生け花を学び、京都の寺院庭園を訪ね、さらに東京・大阪・札幌で庭園の様式や設計の調査、研究を行います。また、イサム・ノグチが日本で手がけた庭園や空間プロジェクトとそのアーカイブ資料の研究も行います。これらの経験を通して、芸術家として、また造園家としての知識と実践を深めることを目指しています。 

Wen Peng is an artist who explores the relationship between space and plants, creating works in painting, video, photography, and installation inspired by plant systems and communities. During his three-month fellowship in Japan, he will study Ikebana in Tokyo, visit temple gardens in Kyoto, and study garden typologies and architecture in Tokyo, Osaka, and Sapporo. He will also research gardens, spatial projects, and the archives related to Isamu Noguchi’s work in Japan. Through this experience, he aims to enrich his knowledge and practice as both an artist and a garden practitioner.

2019–2023年、広州のVitamin Creative Spaceにて、植栽プログラムの企画・実践、展覧会設営、作品記録や映像編集などに従事。2013–2019年に広州美術学院版画学科で学び、2015年にはMirrored Gardens研究プログラムに参加して、植栽プログラムの研究や実践に携わる。2016年、第4回Creator China Illustration Awards（香港）にて、学生部門最優秀賞および審査員特別賞を受賞。 

From 2019 to 2023, Wen worked at Vitamin Creative Space in Guangzhou, managing planting programs, exhibition setup, and documenting and archiving artworks through photograph and film. He studied at the Department of Printmaking at Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts from 2013 to 2019, and in 2015 participated in the Mirrored Gardens Study Program, where he coordinated and participated in planting programs and studies. In 2016, he received the Best Student Illustration Award and the Judges’ Choice Award at the 4th Creator China Illustration Awards (Hong Kong).

ベンジャミン・アキオ・キミッチさん来日！

Benjamin Akio KIMITCH in Japan!

ベンジャミン・アキオ・キミッチさんは、ニューヨークを拠点に活動するアーティストでありプロデューサーで、文化の継承と実験的な振付を取り入れた作品を制作しています。日本での約5か月間のフェローシップでは、京都で自主的なレジデンシーを共に行ってきた日本舞踊家の余越保⼦さんや、雅楽演奏家の⾳無史哉さんによる笙の稽古から学ぶことを中心に活動します。両者の日々の稽古に密着し、伝統に根ざした芸術的技法に触れることで、伝統的な形式をいかに保存し、また現代のアーティストとしてどのように拡張できるかを探求します。

Benjamin Akio Kimitch is a New York–based artist and producer whose work engages experimental choreography and cultural inheritance. During his five-month fellowship in Japan, he will invest in anchor relationships with two performing artists: Yasuko Yokoshi, a practitioner of Nihon Buyo, with whom he previously conducted a self-directed residency in Kyoto, and Fumiya Otonashi, a Sho musician in Gagaku ensembles. By shadowing their daily studio practice and learning parts of their artistic craft, grounded in tradition, Kimitch seeks to explore how traditional forms can be preserved while also being expanded through encounters as contemporary artists. 

ニューヨークを拠点に活動するアーティスト、プロデューサー。委嘱作品のTiger Hands（The Shed、2022）で、2023年ニューヨーク・ダンス＆パフォーマンス賞（Bessie Award）、優秀振付家／クリエイター賞を受賞。また、Ko-bu（Danspace Project、2017）はノグチ美術館で再演され、同年Bessie Awardのパフォーマンス部門にノミネートされた。マクドウェル、ヤッドー、ムーブメント・リサーチ、フロリダ州立大学マギー・アレセー国立振付センターなどでレジデンスに参加。Movement Research Performance Journal、Dance Magazine、Gibney’s Journal などに寄稿し、2023年には著書 Tiger Hands: A Dance Document を発表。プロデューサーとしても幅広いアーティストと協働し、ワールドトレードセンターのペレルマン・パフォーミング・アーツ・センターでオペラ、音楽、演劇、ダンスの新作制作に携わってきた。 

Benjamin Akio Kimitch is an artist and producer based in New York. His commissioned works include Tiger Hands (The Shed, 2022), which received a 2023 Bessie New York Dance and Performance Award for Outstanding Choreographer/Creator, and Ko-bu (Danspace Project, 2017), later reprised at The Noguchi Museum. He has held residencies at MacDowell, Yaddo, Movement Research, and the Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography. His writing has appeared in Movement Research Performance Journal, Dance Magazine, and Gibney’s Journal, and his book Tiger Hands: A Dance Document was published in 2023. As a producer, Kimitch has worked with a wide range of artists and supported new opera, music, theater, and dance at the Perelman Performing Arts Center at the World Trade Center.

鈴木英倫子（すずえり）さんが第18回「shiseido art egg」賞を受賞！

Elico SUZUKI (suzueri) received the 18th shiseido art egg award! 

shiseido art egg（シセイドウアートエッグ）は、資生堂が開催している新進アーティストに資生堂ギャラリーの門戸を広く開く公募制のプログラムで、３名の入選アーティストがそれぞれ資生堂ギャラリーにて個展を開催します。
異なるジャンルのクリエーションに関わる3人の審査によって、3つの個展の中で、資生堂ギャラリー独特の空間に果敢に挑み、新しい価値の創造を最も感じさせた展覧会にshiseido art egg賞が授与されます。
すずえりさんは、「一人の人物の生涯をめぐる多様で複雑な要素を、破綻させることなく美しいインスタレーションとして仕立て上げた」という完成度について、高く評価されました。

"shiseido art egg" is an open-call program in which Shiseido supports emerging artists whose creations stimulate the senses and offer different and diverse values, expanding the possibilities for new kinds of beauty, the opportunity to showcase their work in solo exhibitions.
Each of three selected artists holds a solo exhibition at Shiseido Gallery.
Judged by three professionals involved in different creative fields, the shiseido art egg award is presented to the exhibition within the three solo shows that most boldly challenges the unique space of Shiseido Gallery and most powerfully conveys the creation of new value.
suzueri was highly praised for the level of accomplishment in her work, which “crafted the diverse and complex elements surrounding a single person's life into a beautiful installation without breaking down.”
